Salary: $57,260
Summary
A Supervisor of Data Collection oversees the process of gathering and organizing data for analysis and reporting purposes. They manage a team of data collection specialists, ensuring that data is collected accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established protocols. The supervisor may also be responsible for developing data collection strategies, training staff members, monitoring data quality, and implementing improvements to enhance the overall data collection process. Strong organizational, analytical, and leadership skills are essential for success in this role.
Roles and Responsibilities:

+ Supervises field data collection efforts for the Bus Service Planning Department, which includes completion of work assignments for NJ TRANSIT Bus, Contract Carriers, Light Rails, and planner requests.
+ Creates and loads assignment stop and schedule data into handheld systems for ride checks from the SPRINT and/or Ridecheck Plus database systems. Uploads assignments and retrieves completed field data that has been collected using the Ridecheck web server.
+ Prepares and processes weekly job assignments of all Field Data Collectors, and ensures all necessary samples have been collected manually or by APC by the necessary deadlines.
+ Prepares routine reports from SPRINT database system, and generates exception reports.
+ Supervises, trains, and reinstructs data collection staff to ensure accurate data is collected using proper procedures and policies, including the proper use of the handheld data collection devices.
+ Analyzes data collected, ensures accuracy and coordinates with supervisor, planners, and scheduling staff in department to fulfill data tasks and requests.
+ Assists in preparation of NTD (National Transit Database) reports.
This position supervises:
+ Field Data Collector (eight staff)
Education/Experience and Qualifications/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Public Administration or related area from a US Department of Education accredited college or university.
+ Two (2) years of Bus Operations experience and/or supervisory experience preferred.
+ One year of closely related experience can be substituted for each year of education required.
Knowledge and Skills:
+ Knowledge of NJ TRANSIT bus routes and terminals and basic skills in Excel required.
+ Strong communication and analytical skills desired.
