About this Job
LSU Health New Orleans University Police is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Police Investigator. Applicant must possess a valid Louisiana Driver’s License. Incumbent will investigate violations of state criminal laws, conduct administrative and background investigations, gather evidence, prepare warrant(s), effect arrest(s), locate and interview witnesses, testify in court, conduct undercover operations, assume undercover roles, conduct surveillance operations, prepare necessary reports on initial and follow-up investigations.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of law enforcement experience.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 60 semester hours which substitutes for two years of experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required.
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Incumbent will investigate violations of state criminal laws, conduct administrative and background investigations, gather evidence, prepare warrant(s), effect arrest(s), locate and interview witnesses, testify in court, conduct undercover operations, assume undercover roles, conduct surveillance operations, prepare necessary reports on initial and follow-up investigations.
+ Incumbent may be assigned to a fixed detail, patrol duties or administrative duties. During emergency events such as hurricanes, high water events, etc., incumbent may be required to report for and remain on duty for the duration of the event or until released by the chief of police.

Hours of Operation: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Appointment Type: Probationary Appointment
Compensation: Starting rate of pay is$20.62 per hourwith an additional $1 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.
Pay rate may be adjusted dependent upon applicants’ qualifications.
