RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides safe, effective and efficient drug distribution, monitors patient's response to drug therapy and provides reliable and relevant drug information to patients and health care professionals.
• Involved in business aspects to maintain a profitable company.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Essential: standing, walking, stooping/bending, walking on uneven ground, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting usual weight of 3 pounds, lifting occasional weight up to 25 pounds; pushing/pulling usual weight of 40 pounds of force; reaching above, at and below shoulder level; frequent gripping of an object.
• Continuous: repetitive arm/hand motion.
• Occasional: sitting, periods.
• Operates office/pharmaceutical equipment such as typewriter, computer, telephone, dispensers, laminar flow hoods, TPN mixing machines, etc.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Subjected to noise/vibration from air conditioner, printers, time stamp machines, etc.
• Exposure to chemo drugs and antibiotics and chemicals; dust, odors and cleaning/ disinfectant fumes.
• Work environment is fast paced, congested and may be stressful due to workload.
• Interacts with patients, nurses, physicians and the general public.
• Works on multiple tasks at the same time.
• May be exposed to communicable diseases.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Current Hawaii State license as a Pharmacist.
• Graduate from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
• Assignment to Physicians Office Building:
o Completion of an immunization training course accredited by Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
o Current certification in CPR or BLS.
B. EXPERIENCE:
Experience to demonstrate the following:
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and supporting/facilitating positive team interaction/development.
• Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations.
• Ability to interpret and apply guidelines and procedures.
• Ability to act calmly and tactfully in stressful or confrontational situations.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Assignment to Physicians Office Building:
• One (1) year experience in local retail pharmacy preferred.
Assignment to Rehab Hospital of the Pacific:
• Experience as a hospital pharmacist preferred.
• Experience in unit dose and IV services preferred.
