    PDS Tech Commercial is seeking reliable, safety-driven Field Technicians to support a long-term, high-impact Gas Meter Project in the Nashville area. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy hands-on field work, take pride in precision and safety, and are committed to delivering high-quality service to residential customers.

     

    As a key member of our team, you’ll play an essential role in upgrading critical natural gas infrastructure through detailed meter installations, testing, and customer support. With a project duration of 2+ years, comprehensive training, and the tools you need to succeed, this position offers stability, growth, and the chance to make a real difference in community safety and utility reliability.

     

    Pay Rate:** **$22.00/HR

     

    **Schedule:** First Shift (5 x 8-hour days), with overtime as needed.

     

    Key Responsibilities (What You Will Do)

    This is a productivity-based role focusing on ensuring customer safety and regulatory compliance through meter exchange and related maintenance:

    + **Gas Meter Installation:** Safely read, remove, and install replacement residential gas meters and, when necessary, replace gas regulators.

    + **Safety & Testing:** Perform and document gas leak tests using a company-provided combustible gas indicator. Identify and repair minor gas leaks within the meter set.

    + **Procedural Compliance:** Build new gas meter loops and perform final meter tests according to strict Operator Qualification (OQ) standards.

    + **Customer Service & Relights:** Safely shut down and relight customer gas appliances, ensuring all appliance safeties and operations are proficient. Communicate professionally and interact clearly with utility customers.

    + **Data Collection & Documentation:** Accurately collect and detail all installation data using a company-provided handheld device, ensuring precise documentation for compliance.

    + **Hazard Identification:** Identify and report hazardous and abnormal operating conditions related to gas meter sets.

    + **Physical Work:** Use appropriate hand tools to remove and install meters. Meet daily installation goals established by the Project Manager.

    Provided by company:

    + **Training:** Full Operator Qualification (OQ) training and certifications, including PHMSA compliance.

    + **Equipment:** Uniforms, company vehicle, handheld data collection device, and all necessary hand tools and specialized equipment.

     

    Essential Requirements & Qualifications

    Successful candidates must meet the following non-negotiable requirements:

    + **Education:** High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

    + Must possess a valid Driver's License and maintain a **clean driving record** (MVR required pre-employment and every 6 months).

    + **Physical Ability:** Must be physically capable of working in an **outdoor environment** for up to 10 hours per day in various weather conditions, including walking, climbing, and stooping.

    + Must be able to use a variety of hand tools requiring upper body forces up to 30 lbs.

    + **Commitment:** Must successfully pass all required training.

    Preferred Qualifications (Experience that helps you stand out)

    + Previous experience in Natural Gas Field Service Operations (e.g., utility work, gas service).

    + Previous experience installing or repairing gas meters.

    + Experience with technology, computers, and various software programs.

    + Strong technical, written, and oral communication skills and the ability to work independently.

    **Pay Details:** $22.00 per hour
