    Primary Location: South Hackensack, NJ

Reports to: Operations Director / Supply Chain Manager

    Employment Type: Full-time, multi-functional role

    Role Purpose

Ensure end-to-end supply chain execution for MES within a defense / project-based manufacturing environment of low-to-moderate volume. The role integrates purchasing, planning, production scheduling, job release, inventory control, and logistics coordination. High adaptability is essential to shift across supply chain functions based on workload peaks and operational priorities.

    Position Scope

    1) Planning, Scheduling & Job Release

+ Translate Program Management / Production demand into short- and mid-term supply and manufacturing plans.

+ Build and maintain production schedules including priorities, capacity alignment, and committed delivery dates.

+ Execute job release in ERP/MRP: validate material availability, routings, lead times, and release work orders to the shop floor.

+ Track daily progress vs. plan (OTD, shortages, constraints) and re-sequence/re-plan as needed.

    2) Purchasing & Tactical / Strategic Sourcing

+ Manage direct and indirect procurement: RFQs, bid evaluations, negotiations, PO creation, and delivery follow-up.

+ Develop and maintain critical suppliers for NAVSEA/defense programs through qualification, performance reviews, and risk mitigation.

+ Ensure contractual compliance on quality, traceability, ITAR (as applicable), and certifications.

+ Expedite urgent buys to prevent or recover production delays.

    3) Inventory, MRP Parameters & Materials Control

+ Maintain accurate MRP drivers: lead times, min/max levels, lot sizes, safety stock, reorder points.

+ Monitor inventory health and obsolescence; perform cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies with Finance and Quality.

+ Analyze shortages/excess and recommend cost, stocking, and replenishment improvements.

    4) Logistics & Warehouse Coordination

+ Coordinate receiving, inspection routing, storage, kitting, and material issuance.

+ Manage inbound/outbound logistics: carriers, documentation, freight timing, and promise dates.

+ Ensure physical and document traceability per defense program standards.

    5) Continuous Improvement & Operational Support

+ Identify improvement opportunities in material flow, purchasing cycle time, and schedule adherence.

+ Lead or participate in Lean/Kaizen actions to reduce total lead time and improve OTD.

+ Provide cross-functional support when volume does not justify dedicated roles (e.g., traceability documentation support, project material cost inputs).

    6) Cross-Functional Communication

+ Act as the daily link between Production, Program Management, Engineering, Quality, and Finance.

+ Present weekly supply chain status: risks, delays, recovery plans, and cost impacts.

    Requirements

    Education

+ Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.

+ Preferred: APICS CPIM/CSCP, Lean, Six Sigma coursework/certifications.

    Experience

+ 3–6 years in end-to-end supply chain roles in manufacturing (preferred: defense, naval, aerospace, electronics, or metal fabrication).

    + Hands-on experience with:

+ MRP planning / production scheduling

    + Technical buying / expediting

    + Inventory & warehouse operations

    + Low-volume / high-mix or project manufacturing.

    Technical Skills

+ Strong ERP/MRP execution skills (preferably COSS or similar): PO lifecycle, work orders, MRP parameters, and supply chain reporting.

+ Advanced Excel (pivot tables; PowerQuery a plus).

+ Ability to read and interpret BOMs, drawings, specs, and quality requirements.

    Core Competencies

+ High adaptability and role flexibility (critical due to moderate volume).

+ Strong prioritization and rapid refocus without losing operational control.

+ Supplier negotiation and internal stakeholder communication.

+ Analytical, KPI-driven mindset (OTD, lead time, inventory, PPV).

+ High attention to detail and documentation discipline for defense compliance.
