PeaceHealth is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist for a full-time position in the Operating Room at Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield, Oregon. Consider joining our Surgery team in the following role:
+ **1.00 FTE Evening shift Surgical Technologist**
+ **Work four 10-hour evening shifts each week, 1100-2130**
+ **21 Main OR suites**
+ **Da Vinci Robots**

Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend is a beautiful 350-bed state-of-art regional medical center with level II trauma center located along the banks of the McKenzie River in Springfield, Oregon. The Springfield-Eugene area is located at the southern end of the Willamette Valley, also known as Oregon wine country. Job Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting the Surgical team during operative procedures by performing a variety of technical duties to primarily assist in responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of the surgical sterile field for the operative patient.
Details of the position:
+ Arrange and inventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the surgical team.
+ Understand and apply the principles of asepsis. Establish and maintain sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment.
+ Assist in preparation and moving of patients.
+ Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation. Assists with clean-up and room turnover.
+ Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images.
+ Participates in all safety initiatives. Adheres to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
What you bring:
+ Accredited Program Preferred: Surgical Technology or recognized course of training as a Surgical Technologist AND a current Surgical Tech Certification from nationally accredited certifying organization for surgical technologists.
In lieu of above, must have completed a US Military Surgical Technologist Training Program and must complete 16 hours of continuing education every two years, or for those who have practiced surgical technology in a health care facility in the US or as an employee of an agency or institution of the federal government for at least two of the three years prior to January 1, 2017, certification is not required but caregiver must complete 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
+ 1 year experience as a surgical technologist in a full-service operating room preferred.
+ Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs.
+ Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support Certification

+ Well organized, detail oriented and self motivated (Required)

+ Ability to execute detailed procedures with accuracy and precision (Required)
+ Basic computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications (Required)
+ Understanding of operating room protocols (Required)
Working Conditions
Lifting
+ Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
+ Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
+ Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
+ Frequent reaching/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling/ grasping.
+ Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs.
+ Push/Pull: Frequently up to 20 lbs. force. Occasional up to 30 lbs. force.
Environmental Conditions
+ Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
+ Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
+ Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
Mental/Visual
+ Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
+ Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.
