Electrician

The electrician performs installation of electrical and systems construction elements of C3M projects. This role is primarily a Washington DC position, however traveling and interacting with multiple project teams across various locations throughout the U.S. is also available.
Responsibilities
+ Perform electrical installations on Transportation and/or Industrial Construction projects
+ Provide input and coordinate with other trades on each project
+ Maintain safety and quality standards on all installations and tasks
+ Ensure code compliance by inspecting and testing electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards or needed repairs
+ Maintain positive personal contact and relationships with management, staff, craft and the local unions
+ Ensures that all activities are consistent with project plans, policies and procedures
+ Responsible for assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and wiring systems.
+ Prepares work area for installation of equipment.
+ Installs electrical components.
+ Connects wiring and equipment as per code and job specification.
+ Operates equipment only if trained and certified to operate. (Note: Powder activated tools, and JLG lifts and other operations that may require certification and training before operating).
+ Sets up and operates tools such as hydraulic benders, power threaders, power pullers and cable vacuum systems.
+ Be able to read blueprints and electrical drawings and install as specified.
+ Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances per drawings or plans.
+ Secure and lock up equipment after use.
+ Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
Basic Qualifications
+ Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as electrician for transportation and/or industrial electrical and systems projects
+ Journeymen’s Electrical License or equivalent (Preferred)
+ An innovator, always in pursuit of the next best way
+ Proficient knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and construction safety requirements
+ Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills.
+ Strong work ethic and desire to work in a team environment to help grow the organization.
+ Ability to promote teamwork and open communication on the project site.
+ Highly motivated with strong skills in time management and prioritization.
+ Creative and results-oriented with a sense of urgency.

+ Current IBEW Member in Good Standing or ability to join the IBEW
+ Experience in one or more of the following Preferred:
+ Overhead Catenary System Installation
+ Automatic Train Control System Installation
+ Rail Communications Systems Installation
+ Rail System Station and Facilities Electrical and Systems Installation
+ Water/Wastewater Facilities Electrical and Systems Installation
+ Industrial and/or Complex Facilities Electrical and Systems Installation
The work environment and requirements described below are representative of those necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
**The Physical Side of the Role:** This is an active, hands-on role. You can expect to be on your feet frequently, navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists. The work is physically demanding and requires a full range of motion, including bending, kneeling, and reaching. You’ll need to be comfortable frequently lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. This role requires the ability to communicate effectively, as well as visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work. The role does include desk time in the office that may require prolonged periods of sitting for tasks like computer work, document review, and meetings.
**Your Work Environment:** You’ll spend a significant amount of your time on active construction sites, which means being adaptable to all kinds of weather and moderate to loud noise levels, and comfortable in elevated or confined work areas with moving mechanical equipment and with the fast-paced nature of a project in progress. You will also spend time in a typical office setting with moderate noise levels. Your safety is our top priority, and you'll be expected to follow C3M's safety policies and procedures, and all applicable laws, at all locations.
