The **MRI Technologist Trainee** learns the safety, customer service skills, documentation and operation of MRI through on-the job training under the direction of a registered technologist.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

+ Conducts pre-screening of all personnel before entering the scanning room to ensure their safety.

+ Scans and documents patients under the direction of a registered technologist to meet all customer (If applicable) and Akumin requirements.

+ Completes necessary documentation for patient files to ensure all customer, Akumin policy and Joint Commission requirements are met.

+ Other job duties as needed.

Position Requirements:

+ High school diploma or equivalent experience.

+ Certificate from college or technical school or enrolled in a Radiology program.

+ Actively enrolled in an accredited Radiology or MRI program + CPR certification.

+ Local travel may be required.

+ For trainees performing mid-day moves:

+ _Active state driver's license._

+ Ability to work at several locations

+ Strong customer service skills.

+ Organizational and multi-tasking skills.

+ Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.

+ The COVID-19 vaccination is/may be a condition of employment

+ All candidates who accept an offer for employment will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screen as a condition of employment.

Preferred:

+ Associate's degree or equivalent experience.

+ Certificate from college or technical school.

+ Completion of a Radiology program.

+ Experience in patient care environment.

Physical Requirements:

The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions during transport of patients if working on a mobile unit. The employee will be exposed to a strong magnetic field. May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

More than 50% of the time:

+ Sit, stand, walk.

+ Repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs.

+ See, speak and hear to be able to communicate with patients.

Less than 50% of the time:

+ Stoop, kneel or crawl.

+ Climb and balance.

+ Carry and lift (ability to move non-ambulatory patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or to exam).
