    Description

    The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately processing payroll, maintaining employee pay records, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations. This role partners closely with HR, Finance, and internal stakeholders to deliver timely and precise payroll services while providing excellent employee support.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees

    + Review and audit payroll data for accuracy, including hours worked, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and garnishments

    + Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data integrity within payroll systems

    + Administer payroll-related changes including new hires, terminations, promotions, and pay adjustments

    + Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws

    + Prepare and reconcile payroll reports and general ledger entries

    + Handle payroll tax filings, W-2s, and year-end reporting

    + Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner

    + Collaborate with HR on benefits deductions, timekeeping systems, and employee records

    + Assist with payroll audits and internal controls

    + Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiency

    Requirements

    + 2+ years of payroll processing experience

    + Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax requirements, and wage and hour laws

    + Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, UKG, Workday, or similar)

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools

    + High attention to detail and accuracy

    + Strong organizational and time-management skills

    + Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

    Preferred Qualifications

    + CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC certification

    + Experience processing multi-state payroll

    + Background working in a fast-paced or high-growth environment

    + Familiarity with HRIS and timekeeping systems
