**Position Summary** :
This role is based at our Protein Diagnostics Division in Benson, VT which specializes in the production of polyclonal antibodies, primarily in sheep. We currently have a full-time, 40-hour position available for a Lead Technician on our busy USDA registered sheep farm and laboratory.
Discover Impactful Work:
The full-time Lead Technician is responsible for providing high quality antisera, ensuring all procedural work is carried out/delivered in line with the company's supply and operation process. This includes production and any research and development and design control requirements, while adhering to the quality policy and other relevant regulatory and governing bodies and company policies.
Responsibilities:
A Day in the Life:
+ Ensures the weekly production schedule is on track with abilities to raise, resolve and communicate issues
+ Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all immunizing procedures
+ Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all immunization preparation and QC procedures
+ Manage shop orders and ensure completion
+ Freezer inventory
+ Manage working barn maintenance
+ Fully cross functional amongst lab and animal husbandry team
+ Communication with UK Planning team
Keys to Success:
+ Use improvement skills and tools to drive changes to mitigate sources of errors, improve processes and prevent reoccurrence of issues
+ Take a lead role in deviation and non-conformance investigation, driving timely resolution.
+ Act as a mentor, trainer and role model for others in the team and across the wider department
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Education
High school diploma with 4+ years relevant experience or
An Associates degree with 2+ years experience or
A Bachelors degree with 0+ years of experience
Experience
Essential: Previous experience in a laboratory environment with subject matter expert understanding of production processes
Essential: Experience in workload management and planning
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
•Proven documentation/communication/digital literacy
•Able to review, write and train in operating procedures (SOPs)
•Continuous Improvement skills and experience
•Foundation in general scientific practice, principles, and concepts of your discipline as well as excellent analytical skills
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
+ Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and understand biological/zoonotic hygiene.
+ Able to handle large animals
+ Essentials functions may require lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
+ Willing to work overtime in the short-term notice, including weekends to support department as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Vermont is $22.10–$33.15.
