Summary Statement
Bring energy, skill, and excitement to Boise’s thriving ice facilities as an Ice Rink Technician! In this hands-on role, you’ll take the lead in creating the perfect skating experience by operating the ice resurfacing machine (Zamboni) to maintain smooth, high-quality rink surfaces. You’ll also play a key part in keeping our facilities clean, safe, and welcoming by caring for surrounding areas such as locker rooms and restrooms.

Essential Functions
+ Assists in the maintenance of ice resurfacing machines, including cleaning, changing blades, greasing parts and battery upkeep. Drives and fills water tanks on the machine as needed for ice cuts. Logs information about ice cuts.
+ Drives Zamboni to perform ice maintenance, including resurfacing. Maintains, cleans and repairs ice arena and related property. Keeps ice events on schedule.
+ Maintains inventory and orders supplies. Attends and participates in staff meetings, trainings and orientations.

Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
+ High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in ice facility maintenance and operations.
Knowledge of:
+ Cleaning chemicals and floor equipment.
+ Repairs to equipment and facilities.
+ Computer usage including related software.
Ability to:
+ Operate light, medium and heavy power equipment safely.
+ Guide, train and oversee maintenance staff.
+ Enforce compliance with all regulations, standards and guidelines.
+ Demonstrate consistently high ethical standards.
+ Communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance.
+ Perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
+ Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
+ One or more years of experience working in an ice rink is preferred.
Licensing And Other Requirements
+ Valid state-issued driver’s license.
Special Requirements
Applicants must be able to pass:
+ City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds. Also, the employee is occasionally pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds. The noise level is frequently moderate and occasionally very loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, climb and balance. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.
Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, in wet and humid conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Employees are exposed to mechanical and electrical hazards, work in/at heights and confined spaces. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position. Work includes protected exposure to infectious bacteria, bodily fluids and chemicals.
This position works: nights, weekends and holidays.
19-Hour Temporary
All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.
4-Month Temporary
All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.
8-Month Seasonal
In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.
9-Month Temporary
In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
