    Senior Research Support Specialist

    Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

    Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Microbiology, Immunology or closely related field. Two (2) years of full time research experience. Previous basic laboratory research experiences in cancer and/or immune responses.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Microbiology or Immunology. Two (2) years of full time experience in laboratory research of transplanted mouse models of cancer, mouse models of intestinal diseases and immune response.

    Brief Description of Duties:

    The Senior Research Support Specialist will provide a very broad range of complex laboratory and research related tasks. Working under general supervision in support of a research project for Dr. Yue Zhang in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, incumbent will operate equipment, carry out test procedures as well as collate and interpret data using special methods. This position is funded until May 31, 2026.

     

    The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.

    Duties:

    + Conduct experiments; provide research support by conducting tests using specialized methods for data collection; interpret the collected data.

    + Observe, collect and analyze data and write summary reports as necessary. Prepare reports, drafts and/or manuscripts based on the collected data.

    + Develop, monitor, coordinate and manage activities to maintain effective operation of the program.

    + Work collaboratively with other employees, faculty and professionals to advance the goals of the project.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Special Notes:

    This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
