    SALARY RANGE: $63,788 to $92,373 annually

    OVERVIEW:

    Are you ready to shape the next generation of peace officers in Minnesota? We’re looking for a visionary leader to guide our Police Training & Education Division and keeps us in compliance with our Professional Peace Officer Education (PPOE) program. This isn’t just administration; it’s about building a program that blends academic excellence, cultural competency, and community trust.

     

    This is a high‑impact leadership role at the heart of our division. With a primary focus on the PPOE program, you’ll oversee both the strategic vision and day‑to‑day operations. That means supervising summer skills faculty, directing curriculum development, and championing transformative educational practices that emphasize cultural competency and community engagement. You’ll collaborate closely with the Dean to support faculty and students, addressing conduct concerns with fairness and professionalism. Beyond campus, you’ll serve as a key liaison with the MN POST Board and other regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and maintain accreditation, while building strong partnerships with law enforcement agencies, community stakeholders, and educational institutions.

    In this role, you’ll:

    + Inspire and mentor faculty, staff, and students.

    + Drive innovation in curriculum, ensuring our graduates are prepared for today’s challenges.

    + Build bridges with law enforcement agencies, community partners, and statewide organizations.

    + Teach and recruit, bringing energy into the classroom while championing student success.

    + Oversee hands‑on Skills training, making sure students leave confident and career‑ready.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    **Minimum Qualifications** _(expected to have to enter job)_

    + Five years of full-time licensed peace officer experience. A Bachelor’s degree with a major in law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field can substitute for one year of experience; An Associate’s degree can substitute for six months experience.

    + POST eligible and currently or previously licensed.

    + Direct experience working with Minnesota POST Board in an official capacity and ability to become immediately engaged with POST Board.

    + Demonstrated leadership experience.

    + Demonstrated experience working with people of varied lived experiences.

    + Excellent verbal, written, and public speaking skills.

    **Preferred Qualifications** _(desired but not expected to have to enter job)_

    + Ten years of full-time licensed peace officer experience.

    + Previous teaching or training experience in law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field.

    + Two years of supervisory experience.

    + Prior experience as a PPOE coordinator.

    + Five years of primary patrol related responsibilities within the past ten years.
