Job Title: Quality Control Laboratory Technician
Job Description
+ The Quality Control Laboratory Technician is responsible for analyzing raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods to ensure they meet pre-established work instructions and specifications.
+ You will operate various laboratory equipment and perform quality inspections within the manufacturing facility, investigating and ascertaining the causes of any analytical variances.
Responsibilities
+ Analyze raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods for conformance to specifications.
+ Operate laboratory equipment such as weigh scales, colorimeters, pH meters, and spectrophotometers.
+ Perform quality inspections in the manufacturing facility.
+ Investigate and ascertain causes of analysis variance.
+ Critically examine test results and enter data in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
+ Collaborate with Quality Control Specialists (QCS) for equipment calibration and method standardization.
+ Maintain standard laboratory procedures to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of laboratory instruments.
+ Participate in and successfully complete all required laboratory training classes.
+ Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), FSMA, Safety, and Environmental regulations.
+ Analyze finished products for various analytical tests, including pH, moisture, and enzyme activity.
+ Verify and calibrate laboratory equipment daily before testing.
+ Maintain cleanliness of the laboratory and ensure correct labeling of lot codes and finished products.
+ Re-sample and re-analyze products that do not meet specifications.
+ Apply HOLD stickers and activate system hold for non-compliant products.
+ Complete picking, testing, and approval of raw materials, reporting deviations to supervisors.
+ Keep records of materials needing microbial testing and send samples on time.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor of Science degree
+ Experience in laboratory operations and equipment calibration
+ Team-oriented with strong communication skills
+ Bilingual proficiency
+ Ability to maintain compliance with GMPs, FSMA, HACCP, and company policies
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ No prior industry experience is required, but preferred within the food industry
+ Knowledge of laboratory testing procedures
+ Focus on customer, teamwork, and quality productivity
+ Ability to provide recommendations for workplace safety and efficiency improvements
Work Environment
+ This role is based in a team-oriented environment during the 2nd shift from 1:30 pm to 10 pm.
+ Occasionally, there may be a requirement to work some Saturdays for about 6 hours, though this is rare.
+ The work environment is informal and promotes self-management.
+ It is located in a manufacturing plant with large open floor areas and loud machinery, where there is exposure to high temperatures in summer and cold environments in winter.
+ The environment can be dusty due to raw materials, with potential exposure to allergens like eggs, soy, sesame seeds, milk, and wheat.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Totowa, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
