Job Title: Medical Assistant
Job Description
Provide care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients and their families, while supporting clinic personnel including physicians, residents, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, RNs, LPNs, and non-clinical staff such as front office, medical records, billing, and referrals.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct hearing screening and vision testing.
+ Obtain vital signs and prepare patients for examination.
+ Record patient history, medications, and allergies.
+ Set up procedures and collect specimens, including labeling.
+ Perform throat swabs, urine tests, and venipuncture.
+ Conduct laboratory tests and telephone triage.
+ Handle pharmacy calls and patient refill requests.
+ Follow up with patients via phone calls.
+ Room patients and manage patient care coordination.
Essential Skills
+ 2+ years of medical assistant experience.
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ National MA certification (CMA, AAMA, NCCT, RMA, AMT, CCMA, NHA, or NCMA). Certification must be current and active.
+ BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
+ Experience with Epic electronic medical records.
+ Proven reliability and excellent attendance record.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Completion of a nationally recognized accredited medical assistant training program with a practicum of at least 160 hours.
+ Successful completion of a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.
+ Current Oregon Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license and national EMT registration with NREMT.
Work Environment
The position is Portland, OR, with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (40 hours per week). The initial contract duration is 13 weeks, with a high likelihood of extension and potential for permanent conversion based on performance and business needs. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
