Job Title: Embedded Systems and Controls Architect
Job Description
Collaborate with engineering staff and chief engineers to develop and integrate high-power processing solutions across various product lines and technology areas. These include high-power motor drives, power conditioning systems, laser systems, battery systems, advanced aerospace and electro-optic sensors, space-based optical communications, small satellites, nuclear thermal propulsion, optical beam pointing and control, and signal/image processing.
Responsibilities
+ Determine technical objectives for projects and programs through research, design, and development.
+ Improve legacy systems and develop new systems.
+ Generate electrical controls and embedded systems architecture solutions for new projects.
+ Perform engineering analyses for systems and circuits, document findings, and communicate results.
+ Give technical presentations and manage technical effort schedules.
+ Advise or lead projects/programs and oversee less experienced staff.
+ Formulate and coordinate multi-year plans for solutions development and deployment.
+ Evaluate integration of engineering solutions and ensure documentation, testing, maintenance, and updates.
+ Plan for future applications of solutions based on new engineering technology developments.
+ Develop new and expand existing business opportunities.
+ Communicate effectively during solution development and deployment cycles.
+ Represent the company as a prime technical contact on contracts/projects and interact with external personnel.
Essential Skills
+ Embedded systems development including processors, microcontrollers, FPGAs.
+ Mixed-signal circuit design (analog/digital).
+ Analysis, design, and implementation of hardware systems (digital, analog, RF, optical).
+ Experience with real-time operating systems such as VxWorks and FreeRTOS.
+ Experience with optical systems.
+ Technical expertise in engineering principles and project leadership.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree, master's degree, or PhD in engineering or related technical discipline.
+ Fifteen or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree; thirteen or more years with a master's degree; ten or more years with a PhD.
+ Experience with Xilinx Vivado Design Suite and Vitis Unified Software Platform.
+ Experience with Microsemi Libero SoC Design Suite and bare-metal C-code programming.
+ Familiarity with DoD technical review processes.
+ Skills in Linux, Buildroot, LabVIEW, VHDL, C/C++, PADS or Altium PCB Design Software.
+ Proficiency in Atlassian Tool Suite, Microsoft Project, Visio, and PowerPoint.

The workspace may include the use of specialized software and hardware tools, necessitating a professional and collaborative atmosphere.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Poway, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $210000.00/yr.
