Job Title: Cable Technologist
Job Description
We are seeking an engineer technologist to support our work as a prime contractor on high-profile U.S Navy weapon systems. The ideal candidate will possess familiarity with automatic cable testing and military projects, along with the ability to communicate moderately complex concepts clearly and concisely. The position requires applying knowledge of requirements definition and test principles to support the development of test procedures, design cable interface adapters, and evaluate cabling changes for impacts.
Responsibilities
+ Support calibration and shipment of automatic cable test systems.
+ Review and modify existing design documentation.
+ Develop new documentation to support program needs.
+ Develop requirements, test procedures, Quality Assurance Plans, Configuration Management Plans, and evaluation techniques for new cable test programs.
+ Prepare impact reports.
+ Track and resolve problems found during cable testing.
+ Participate in research, investigations, and special studies.
Essential Skills
+ High school diploma or GED with 4 years of relevant experience.
+ Basic electronics experience
+ Familiarity with military projects.
+ Experience with cable testing and automated testing.
+ Experience in developing documentation related to requirements, test procedures, and analysis.
+ Research, problem-solving, and analysis skills.
+ Ability to read cable running sheets, wiring lists, and wiring tables.
+ Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills for interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with colleagues and customers.
+ Time management and organizational skills.
+ Ability to exercise discretion, independent judgment, and make sound decisions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 4 – 6 years of relevant professional experience.
+ Active DoD SECRET security clearance.
+ Field site experience supporting the SSBN Test Program.
+ Current D-5 TRIDENT SWS Technical / Operational Knowledge.
+ Working knowledge of the Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) organization.
+ Experience within the SSP Test Program.
+ Fiber optics testing experience.
+ Demonstrated experience in Test and Evaluation methodologies including test planning, execution, and reporting.
Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid work schedule with three days onsite, two mandatory days onsite (Tuesday and Wednesday), and one flexible day. The role follows a 9/80 schedule, providing a balanced work-life environment.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Rockville, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
