    Job Title: Environmental Field Technician

    Job Description

    + As an Environmental Field Technician, you will be responsible for opening 1-8 manholes daily across the state, with your home base located at the Onondaga County water treatment plant.

    + From this base, you will travel to various sites to oversee the installation of flow and level monitors within sewer lines, as well as rainfall monitoring equipment.

    + You will also be responsible for the calibration of flow monitors and the collection and review of sewer flow, level, and rainfall data.

    + Maintaining accurate, legible, and organized records in accordance with company quality and instructions is essential.

    Responsibilities

    + Open and manage 1-8 manholes daily across the state.

    + Travel from the Onondaga County water treatment plant to various sites.

    + Oversee the installation of flow and level monitors within sewer lines.

    + Oversee the installation of rainfall monitoring equipment.

    + Calibrate flow monitors.

    + Collect and review sewer flow, level, and rainfall data.

    + Maintain accurate and organized records in accordance with company standards.

    Essential Skills

    + Willingness to work in confined spaces.

    + Experience in environmental science, environmental field, construction, or civil engineering.

    + Ability to drive to various sites.

    + Knowledge of Hazwoper and OSHA 40.

    + Experience with hazardous waste and wastewater management.

    + General labor skills.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + BS in Environmental Science preferred, but not required.

    + High school diploma accepted.

    + OSHA 40 certification preferred.

    + CPR and First Aid certifications required.

    + Adult CPR training required.

    + Ability to lift 50 lbs.

     

    Work Environment

     

    + Work four 10-hour days from Monday to Thursday, typically from 7 AM to 4 PM, with overtime pay available.

    + If weather disrupts the schedule, hours can be made up on Friday.

    + The office is based in Utica, NY, and you will work with another Environmental Specialist, reporting to a manager.

    + Extensive travel (50%-60%) is required around Utica, Syracuse, Onondaga, Oneida, Buffalo, and surrounding areas, with occasional travel to NYC.

    + The company provides thermal winter gear for safety and comfort. You will drive a company van to all sites.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Utica, NY.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
