Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in San Diego, California. This role involves performing essential accounting functions, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting, while ensuring accuracy and compliance with corporate standards. The ideal candidate will have experience with corporate and sales taxes, general ledger management, and advanced proficiency in accounting software.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post recurring journal entries for monthly and quarterly closing processes.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.

• Handle intercompany debit notes and allocate charges across corporate entities.

• Assist with fixed asset accounting, including tracking and reporting updates.

• Submit financial data using specialized systems and tools, such as Diva and Excel.

• Perform daily cash reconciliations to maintain up-to-date financial records.

• Support the transition to digital invoicing by managing initial paper-based workflows.

• Execute accruals and prepaid transactions during monthly and quarterly close cycles.

• Collaborate on tax-related tasks, including corporate and sales tax preparation.

• Ensure timely reporting by adhering to closing deadlines and submitting preliminary reports. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Proven experience in corporate tax, sales tax, and tax return preparation.

• Strong proficiency with accounting software such as JD Edwards and Excel.

• Solid understanding of general ledger management and account reconciliations.

• Ability to handle recurring journal entries and ensure timely financial close.

• Experience with fixed asset accounting and accrual processes.

• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Effective communication skills for collaboration across departments.
