    Lead Advanced Practice Professionals – Robotic and Oncologic Surgery,

     

    Good Samaritan University Hospital (GSUH)

     

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    Position Summary:

    The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Lead – Robotic and Oncologic Surgery is a pivotal leadership role responsible for advancing the quality and coordination of robotic surgery across the Department of Surgery, supports the operating rooms and will launch a comprehensive robotic surgery program.

     

    This role integrates clinical expertise, program development, and data analytics to improve patient outcomes, reduce readmissions, and optimize performance metrics across the general surgery, oncologic surgery and robotic service lines.

     

    The APP supervisor serves as a clinical leader, educator, and data-driven strategist, bridging frontline care with system-level quality and performance improvement.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Clinical Leadership – Robotic and oncologic surgery

     

    Serve as the clinical lead for robotic and oncologic surgery, ensuring delivery of evidence-based, high-quality surgical care.

     

    Participate in and coordinate multidisciplinary rounds, facilitating communication and care planning.

     

    Mentor and provide clinical guidance to nurses, APPs, and other staff to promote professional growth and best practices.

     

    Collaborate with physicians, surgeons and leadership to develop, update, and implement clinical protocols and pathways for surgical patients.

     

    Program Development – Advanced Robotic and oncologic surgery

     

    Design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive robotic and oncologic program focused on reducing readmissions, decreasing surgical complications, optimizing outcomes, improving long-term outcomes, improving employee engagement and improving patient experience.

     

    Develop and execute care transition protocols, outpatient management workflows, and patient education initiatives.

     

    Integrate evidence-based strategies for “best practice” in robotic and oncologic surgery

     

    Track, analyze, and report program outcomes to ensure alignment with organizational goals, Leap Frog Hospital/Patient Safety ratings, CMS Five Star ratings and national benchmarks.

     

    Data Analytics & Quality – Robotic and Oncologic Surgery

     

    Collect, manage, and analyze robotic and oncologic surgical performance data to support continuous quality improvement, in collaboration with the GUSH Quality Department

     

    Prepare and submit reports to national and state registries (e.g., NYS DOH, NCDR).

     

    Provide actionable insights through data visualization and trend analysis to support operational decisions.

     

    Collaborate with Quality and IT departments to improve data integrity, reporting accuracy, and performance transparency.

    Qualifications

    Education & Certification:

    Physician Assistant Studies (PA-C) required.

     

    Board certification

     

    Current licensure as a PA in the State of New York.

     

    BLS and ACLS certification required.

    Experience:

    Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in advanced robotic surgery and oncologic surgery.

     

    Strong understanding of heart failure management principles

     

    Proficiency in data analytics (e.g., Excel, SQL, EPIC reporting, NCDR)

     

    At least two (2) years of prior leadership or supervisory experience

     

    Proven track record of program development and interdisciplinary collaboration.

    Skills & Competencies:

    Strong clinical judgment and advanced surgical perioperative and intraoperative skills

     

    Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.

     

    Ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into quality initiatives.

     

    Proficiency with electronic medical records and reporting systems.

     

    Strategic thinker capable of leading cross-departmental initiatives.

    Performance Expectations:

    Demonstrates clinical excellence and fosters a culture of safety and accountability.

     

    Salary Range

     

    USD $73.01 - USD $97.35 /Hr.
