    Responsible supervisory work directing and participating in the construction, repair, and maintenance of County highway bridges and assigned projects.

    Distinguishing Features of Work

    An employee in this class is responsible for on-site supervision and direction of bridge construction and maintenance operations. Duties include planning, coordinating and reviewing the work performed by assigned staff; reviewing blueprints and engineering directives; determining procedural, scheduling and material requirements; enforcing safety rules and practices; preparing daily time, materials and equipment records and reports; and participating in equipment operation and general labor tasks as required. The work is performed under the direction of assigned supervisory staff.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):

    - High school diploma or its equivalent.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):

    - Seven (7) years full-time paid verifiable experience in heavy construction or road/bridge construction work.

     

    - Possession of valid certification from an accredited crane operator testing organization, and successful completion of crane rigging and signal training within one (1) year of appointment to the position and prior to certification. Failure to obtain the required certification, and to successfully complete rigging and signal training within one (1) year of appointment will result in termination from the position.

     

    - Possess or obtain appropriate Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License within twelve (12) months of employment/promotion. Failure to obtain the appropriate Class ‘A’ license prior to completion of probation will result in termination from the position.

     

    - Possess or obtain Erosion and Stormwater Management Certification within twelve (12) months of employment/promotion.
