    Responsibilities

    + Recruit and engage participants through outreach strategies designed to ensure broad access to services for anyone who may benefit, ensuring full classes. Responsible for adequate preparation prior to class.

    + Develop curriculum for Career Readiness Workshops and make recommendations for update to keep it current with best practices. Incorporate core WRT components such as professional communication, teamwork, problem solving, time management, workplace culture, digital literacy, and job-search skills.

    + Remain current regarding workforce development and program development by researching best practice and workforce trends, regular interaction and consultation with colleagues and attending trainings and workshops as available.

    + Model and teach appropriate workplace behavior by incorporating concepts into everyday interactions such as timeliness, resolving conflicts and appropriate communications and appearance.

    + Assist customers with referral to support services by actively referring customers for in-house case management and sharing new knowledge of community resources with team. Support implementation of barrier removal assistance including transportation, childcare, technology access, and work-appropriate clothing resources.

    + Promote the Work Readiness Training program through outreach events, community partnerships, and collaboration with local Career Centers. Demonstrate proactive knowledge of SCAP’s services.

    Qualifications

    Requirements

    + Bachelor’s Degree in adult education, counseling, or related field.

    + One (1) year experience as a group facilitator or counselor working with adults in a similar environment.

    + Must have a New York State driver’s license, have regular access to a car, and be willing to travel to off-site locations.

    + Must have experiencing accessing community based resources and have the ability to create relationships with business and workforce development experts.

    + Ability to learn quickly the resources available to low income people, and the ability to adequately refer to existing in-house and external community resources.

    + Demonstrated computer expertise, with Microsoft Office, the use of Smart Boards and the ability to stay up to date on workplace use of technology. Ability to use technology required for hybrid/virtual training delivery and support digital literacy instruction for participants.

    + Must be able to work cooperatively as a team and display good problem solving skills both as a facilitator and as an employee.

    + Knowledge and understanding of issues related to individuals and families in poverty. Ability to build upon the strengths of those we serve with diverse racial, cultural, social, educational and economic backgrounds, including high risk populations, to provide high-level services and lasting solutions to fit each individual’s and family’s needs.

    + Must have demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
