Job Summary:
The Curriculum & Assessment Specialist shall be responsible to the Director of Curriculum & Assessment. The incumbent shall have responsibility to support all aspects of assessment and curriculum at the district/classroom level. The incumbent will provide leadership and vision in the ongoing planning, implementation, development, direction, review and evaluation of the district’s curriculum, assessment and instructional services. The incumbent, under the direction of the Director of Curriculum & Assessment, supports the effective operation of all aspects of teaching and learning by developing and delivering professional learning, providing curriculum and assessment support, and creating resources that enhance instructional quality and increase student achievement.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Maintains positive, collaborative, and supportive working relationships with community agencies, parents, students, and Agency, District, and school staff.
+ Adheres to all District policies and procedures.
+ Supports district and state assessments, as well as the instructional and curricular integration of technology, through modeling, co-teaching, consulting, reflection, and targeted feedback to teachers.
+ Delivers instructional support and facilitates virtual and job-embedded professional learning opportunities.
+ Provides mentorship and instructional support to new teachers, sharing effective resources and strategies.
+ Actively participates in content team meetings to assist and support instructional planning.
+ Assists the Director of Curriculum & Assessment with developing annual calendars for TKES/LKES, professional learning, and assessments.
+ Collects, analyzes, and reviews assessment data with area superintendents, school leaders, and teachers to guide instructional decisions.
+ Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director.
Experience:
+ Strong background in program leadership
+ Must be able to perceive the needs of the Curriculum and Assessment program
+ Strong decision-making ability, budget experience, proven performance, and resource
+ management skills
+ Ability to effectively lead, organize, and direct the work of others
+ Knowledge of school district policies and practices
+ Demonstrated ability to implement the district’s strategic plan
+ Ability to relate to a wide variety of people and to observe, listen and provide leadership which
+ results in the best possible work environment
+ Excellent verbal and written communications skills
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office
+ Must meet established deadlines
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
+ Minimum 4 years successful classroom teaching experience with a documented record of increased student achievement - Required
+ Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field –Preferred · National Board Certification –Highly Preferred
CERTIFICATIONS
+ Must hold or be eligible for leadership certification (SRL) by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Requirements:
• Light work: Exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally
• The job also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job
functions: hearing, talking, visual acuity, and walking
Working Conditions:
• Requires frequent travel to juvenile detention facilities throughout Georgia
