Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
+ Bachelor’s Degree.
+ Customer service experience and mindset.
+ Ability and comfort to work with online learners by email, phone, and video conferencing.
+ Effective communication skills, including detailed notetaking, active listening, rapport-building, care for confidentiality, and adaptivity to varying communication/learning styles.
+ Ability to multitask
+ Demonstrated ability to work in a high-volume setting
+ Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
+ Demonstrated ability to build connections and collaborate across an organization to investigate, advocate, and resolve student concerns.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s Degree.
+ Experience working in a college environment, preferably with direct student contact.
+ Previous Academic Advising or Success Coaching experience.
+ Experience working with a Student Information System ( SIS / ERP ), Learning Management System ( LMS ), Customer Relationship Management System ( CRM ), and other industry-standard software applications.
+ Ability to simplify and explain complex processes, policies, and information to all audiences, one-on-one and in groups.
Job Description
Responsible for advising and promoting activities and providing leadership opportunities for Texas State students and the campus community.
Job Duties
• Engage online students through email, phone, and web conferencing.
• Provide generalist academic advising for students in a wide range of online majors, including degree planning, course selection, and completion.
• Provide exceptional customer service to explain complex policies, procedures, and information.
• Connect students to college-wide resources, providing additional referrals as needed.
• Provide basic success coaching.
• Acknowledge and research student concerns, collaborate with appropriate stakeholders, and advocate for solutions with a commitment to fairness and integrity.
• Perform outreach services to promote student engagement, success, and completion.
• Maintain a high regard for accuracy and clarity in all student interactions.
• Maintain detailed student records.
• Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA .
• Stay up to date on changes in curriculum and admissions criteria for online programs.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and attainment of knowledge regarding industry advancements and best practices in academic advising, success coaching, student engagement, and online learning.
• Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering TXST mission.
• Collaborate with departments across campus as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
