    Overview

     

    Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.

     

    Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a **_Mine Rescue Team Coordinator_** and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

    Responsibilities

    This position will report to the Emergency Management Manager and will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all aspects of mine emergency preparedness and response activities, ensuring compliance with federal and state safety regulations.

    Job Duties

    + Plan, facilitate and coordinate training and drills for two Mine Rescue Teams.

    + Maintain, audit, and manage all equipment, including self-contained breathing apparatus, first aid supplies, mine rescue vehicle and trailer.

    + Develop and maintain the Emergency Management (EM) plans, procedures, Policies to comply with DOE Orders, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and Internal WIPP requirements for the protection of WIPP employees and facilities.

    + Maintain accurate records of all activities, training, incidents, and equipment status, and prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies.

    + Coordinate with internal teams, external government agencies (like MSHA and state departments), and other emergency service providers, potentially including mutual aid agreements.

    + Plan and coordinate Mine Rescue Team competitions.

    + Assist in the development, performance, and documentation of scheduled Management Self-Assessments.

    + Plan, facilitate and coordinate MSHA underground evacuation drills.

    + Other duties as assigned by EM manager.

    Minimum Requirements

    + Bachelor’s degree with six (6) years of relevant professional experience, or

    + Associate’s degree with ten (10) years of relevant professional experience, or

    + High School Diploma or Equivalency with fourteen (14) years of relevant professional experience is required.

    + MSHA Blue Card for Training is required.

     

    _Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information._

    Preferred Requirements

    • Experience in a regulated environment such as DOE, NRC, or military is preferred.

    • Experience on a Mine Rescue Team is a plus.

    • Previous WIPP site experience is a plus.

    Exempt grade level(s) 30-34. Minimum salary $80,609 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
