    Job Summary:

    Plans, develops, and executes ongoing programs that impact a significant segment of the organization under occasional guidance. The Sr. Project Manager focuses on high‑level disinfection (HLD) practices across the Vanderbilt enterprise, serving as a Subject Matter Expert for HLD chemistries and supporting Adult, Pediatric, Regional, and Ambulatory sites.

    Quality, Safety, and Risk Prevention (QSRP)

    Key Responsibilities

    + Revise and update online coursework, competencies, and related materials based on departmental changes aligned with new regulations.

    + Facilitate creation of new policies, protocols, and procedures driven by evolving rules, guidelines, and standards; make recommendations where appropriate.

    + Assist with development and implementation of programs for HLD and instrument reprocessing.

    + Create or modify standard operating procedures and develop guidelines to support best practices.

    + Ensure HLD reprocessing documentation compliance; conduct practice audits and develop detailed action plans for non‑compliant sites; partner with site leaders to drive improvement initiatives.

    + Create trackable metrics during project implementation and audit practice changes post‑implementation to remove sites from action plans.

    + Conduct annual needs assessments for staff competency; evaluate proficiency of personnel performing HLD practices.

    + Facilitate stakeholder meetings to evaluate operational impact when implementing practice changes; develop goals, risk assessments, and SBARs for special initiatives.

    + Outline the tasks associated with each project and oversee/manage the status of project items through completion.

    Project Management Objectives

    + Scope & Objectives: Define clear scope, SMART objectives, deliverables, and acceptance criteria for all HLD projects and pilots.

    + Schedule Management: Build and maintain integrated timelines (milestones, dependencies, critical path) to ensure on‑time delivery.

    + Resource & Budget Management: Estimate resources, allocate staff across sites, and track spend vs. plan; escalate variances with corrective actions.

    + Risk & Issue Management: Maintain a living risk register (likelihood, impact, mitigation/contingency); lead structured issue triage and resolution.

    + Stakeholder & Change Management: Map stakeholders, execute communication plans, and apply change‑readiness activities (training, job aids, go‑live support).

    + Quality & Compliance: Align to QSRP standards and regulatory requirements; embed quality gates and audit checkpoints in the project lifecycle.

    + Metrics & Benefits Realization: Define baseline/targets (e.g., compliance rate, audit findings, reprocessing turnaround, defect rate) and report progress to leadership.

    + Governance & Reporting: Operate with clear governance (charter, RACI, status reports, steering routines) and make data‑driven decisions.

    Preferred Skills, Education, Certifications

    + Experience with high‑level disinfection automated endoscope reprocessors (AERs) and chemistries; familiarity with quality improvement strategies (preferred but can be trained on the job).

    + Certifications/experience (one or more): Certified Endoscopy Reprocessor (CER); SGNA or equivalent; CPHQ, CIPM, PMP or equivalent; or 5+ years relevant experience in HLD and/or program/quality management.

    + Experience with HLD systems such as Medivator, OER, Steris is preferred (not required).

    + Experience with Censitrac electronic tracking systems.

    Work Conditions

    + Hybrid work option with travel to ambulatory clinic sites across Tennessee for onsite assessments, training, and risk assessments; ~35% travel, 50% in‑office, 15% remote.

    The Department of **Quality, Safety, and Risk Prevention (QSRP)** equips and empowers Vanderbilt Health faculty and staff at our Main Campus, Regional Hospitals and Ambulatory Divisions to offer care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient and patient-centered.
