    Client: George Washington University Hospital

     

    Position: Inpatient Dietitian

     

    Openings: 1

     

    Duration: permanent - 20%

     

    Pay Range: $65,981 - $98,971k

    Shift: M-F 8-5, fully onsite, flexible time: earliest start time is 7:30 AM, latest start time is 9:30 AM

    • Weekends: they have a team member who works Thursday-Sunday, however candidate needs to be flexible to work weekends, in the chance that patient volume increases and they need extra hands

    • Holidays: rotating holidays between team members

    Interview Process:

    • 1st round: 30 minute Teams meeting

    • 2nd round: hour and a half onsite panel interview (meet the team and shadow)

     

    Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Insight Global is seeking a collaborative, assertive, and highly visible Inpatient Dietitian to join GW's Hospital's Food & Nutrition Services team to provide comprehensive nutrition care across all inpatient units, with no clinic or outpatient responsibilities. You’ll round with medical teams, own unit pairings, and serve as a respected partner to physicians and residents. The culture is team‑first, communicative, and fun‑spirited, with everyone pitching in to support coverage wherever needed.

    Responsibilities Include:

    100% Inpatient Coverage & Unit Model

    • Provide nutrition care across all units; primary ownership typically in paired units (e.g., ICU & Med‑Surg; CVICU & CV Step‑Down).

    • Float to non‑assigned units as needed to support census spikes or coverage gaps.

    • Participate in periodic reassignment of “orphan” floors (ICU, Med‑Surg, Rehab) to balance workload.

    Daily Workflow (D2D)

    • Morning rounds: Prioritize the census sheet; triage consults and nutrition support needs.

    • Nutrition support: High volume TPN and parenteral nutrition; complete nutrition support orders by 1:00 PM per service expectations.

    • Clinical practice: Assessments, care planning, writing nutrition orders, and documentation.

    • Academic & QI engagement: Deliver resident lectures; contribute to quality improvement projects and interdisciplinary education.

    • Afternoon: Charting, follow‑up assessments, and order entry.

    Caseload Expectations

    • Higher volume days: ~10–15 patients/day (generally lower acuity mix).

    • Lower volume days: ~6–8 patients/day (complex, high‑acuity, high‑risk cases).

    Interdisciplinary Collaboration

    • Build strong, trust‑based relationships with physicians, nurses, and ancillary teams.

    • Communicate clearly and proactively; embody an assertive, visible, present approach at the bedside and on rounds.

    • Model a team‑first mindset, step in and pick up work to help teammates as needed.

    Skills and Requirements

    Must Haves:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition / Dietetics.

    • Master's degree is preferred.

    • Registered Dietitian / Nutritionist (RDN).

    • Washington DC Dietitian License.

    • 2-3 years of experience in a clinical setting.

    • Accredited Dietetic internship. Skills:

    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

    • Effective interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

    • Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities.
