• Network Engineer II

    Job Description

    Insight Global is seeking a qualified Network Engineer II in support of one of our clients in Chesapeake, VA. Their day to day will include but is not limited to:

     

    - Configure and troubleshoot advanced Layer 2/3 networking (VLANs, STP, EtherChannel, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP/VRRP/GLBP).

     

    - Manage firewall policies, NAT, ACLs, and network access control (Cisco ISE, Aruba ClearPass).

     

    - Administer wireless networks (WLC, RF design, security, site surveys) and resolve coverage/performance issues.

     

    Support application services (DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS) and apply QoS principles.

     

    - Monitor network performance, analyze logs, and maintain documentation.

     

    - Assist with emerging technologies (BGP, MPLS, SD-Access/SD-WAN) and mentor junior engineers.

     

    Compensation: $45.50 to $50.50/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

     

    Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    - In-depth understanding of Layer 2 switching and a strong understanding of L3 through 7 networking, routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP), firewalls, Wi-Fi, and Network Access Control (NAC – for example ISE and/or CPPM).

     

    - Basic understanding of more complex topics like VRFs, BGP, and MPLS. 5 years of experience in the networking space
