Sensus, a Xylem brand, is hiring a Supplier Quality Engineer** **(Industrial Engineer) ready to make a real impact. You’ll take a proactive approach to quality, identifying potential failure points before they happen and leading root-cause investigations alongside cross-functional teams (CFTs). Partnering closely with Sourcing and Engineering, you’ll challenge suppliers, implement robust corrective actions, and push continuous improvement across the supply base. Your work will directly strengthen product reliability, accelerate innovation, and help us consistently exceed customer expectations.

The Role:** **Supplier Quality Engineer will execute their strategy of technological excellence and to increase focus on delighting customers. This role will support operational supplier quality success in relation to specific product quality concerns and new product development by categorizing suppliers and supplier quality auditing resources in the region by product types, performance, and expertise. This role will support Site Quality Managers, XGP Supplier Quality, Engineering, and Customer Service to share auditing resources, establish supplier improvement programs, advise product development CTQs, establish gaging plans, and assure the voice of our customers translates to our supply base.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
Lead rapid response meetings with key participants to outline details, strategy, impact, and corrective and preventative actions while also providing daily and/or weekly status updates for key stakeholders.
Assist with conducting quality audits, identifying, documenting, and providing solutions for Non-Conformances (NCR's) Corrective Actions (CAR's) & Preventive Actions (PAR's)
Knowledge of manufacturing process associated with plastic molding, metal stamping, machining, castings, painting, electro-plating, cables and printed circuit board assembly
Improve supplier quality performance by developing a Supplier Report Card with Sourcing and communicating with suppliers on a regular basis
Collaborate with Engineering and Product Management to identify and define CTQs, establish gaging plans for CTQs, and provide recommendations for suppliers on new products launches and sustaining engineering changes.
Partner with XGP to develop a Xylem and Supplier joint verification process on critical supplier receipts based on supplier performance.
Partner with Sourcing to implement supplier quality requirements during the Request for Quote process
Support new product launches to ensure suppliers can deliver to the required quality standards.
Support on-site or remote external audits for the MCS Operations Quality Team and monitor timely responses to audit findings, auditor requests, and escalates audit related risks.
Assure the Production Part Approval Process is in place and effective for supplier supplied parts.
Conduct and support rapid response problem solving initiatives for NA supplier risks with a strong sense of urgency.
Issue supplier score cards** **and create a development plan for problem suppliers to support performance targets and monitor performance in meeting Sensus goals
Track operational supplier quality audits and supplier product quality spills. Work with business unit leaders to resource and support supplier activities to resolve product quality defects and process non-conformances.
Support supplier assessment activities and assignments in collaboration with Xylem XGP and engage XGP in operational supplier quality activities when appropriate.
Recover costs from supplier-caused nonconformances.
Support company goals and objectives as required
Requirements:
7+ years’ experience in manufacturing Quality environment
Bachelor’s Degree (Industrial Engineering) or equivalent relevant work experience
Knowledge of manufacturing process associated with plastic molding, metal stamping, machining, castings, painting, electro-plating, cables and printed circuit board assembly
Possess strong decision-making, analytical and problem-solving, and negotiating skills
Knowledge of statistical techniques and statistical analysis software** **(such as MiniTab)
Detailed working knowledge of ISO procedures and Quality Systems
Knowledge in the areas of Engineering, Service, Manufacturing, and Quality
Knowledge of basic quality topics and metrics like APQP, Statistical Process Control methods, 8D Methodology and Process Capability Index (CPK) is highly desirable
Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers and maintain positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness
Demonstration of good oral and written communication skills with the flexibility and ability to work with several areas and levels within the Company
Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task to develop and produce accurate, professional and error-free documents on a timely basis
Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodology
Ability to review & approve corrective action analysis and product test plan review
Willing to travel up to 40% to suppliers worldwide for audit & development activities
ASQ certification and IPC 610, IPC 620 a plus
Physical Demands:
Physical requirements include: good vision and hearing; ability to stand and walk, lift and carry up to 35 pounds occasionally and/or 10 pounds occasionally; stoop, crouch, kneel reach for and handle items, pick, pinch or otherwise work with the fingers and use the fingertips to perceive attributes of objects such as size, shape and surface finish.
Work is performed in a typical manufacturing plant environment under the following conditions: noise, fumes, dust, and high voltage electric current. Some duties are performed outdoors and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions

The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000 to $105,000. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
