    Reports To: Shipping and Receiving Supervisor – (Works in conjunction with other Department Heads.)

     

    Summary: Coleman team members are expected to share our drive to be the best. We do not cut corners or compromise when it comes to Customer Service, Accountability, Quality and Safety. This position is expected to receive and store milk and ice cream products and to load transport and DSD trucks with product. The Order Picker position will work as an equal team member and help us obtain our goals by performing the following duties and working with other employees.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (Others duties may be assigned.)

     

    + Understand and follow: Turner Holdings standard operating procedures for shipping department.

    + Read customer orders or follow oral instructions on product to be moved.

    + Use a hand held device to scan all product as it is selected and place proper pallet tag on each pallet selected.

    + Record product expiration date on pick ticket or hand held scanner.

    + Operate industrial fork lift to assist in loading or moving product. Follow Forklift Safety procedures as outlined in OSHA standards.

    + Wrap all pallets with plastic shrink wrap before loading.

    + Make sure all truck, trailer and cooler doors are sealed after product is moved.

    + Notify supervisor and records, on pick ticket, any product shortage.

    + Performs other routine warehousing and manual cleaning chores, as need requires.

    + Special projects assigned by management.

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience

     

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    Language Skills

     

    Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, load tickets and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, other employees and management.

     

    Math Skills

     

    Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, decimals and common fractions.

     

    Reasoning Ability

     

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. This job requires the ability to inform supervisors and operators of standard variations in an objective manner.

     

    Certificates, Licenses, Regulations

     

    Must have Forklift Training Certificate including safety training procedures from OSHA.

     

    Physical Demands

    Perform any combination of the following tasks:

    + Regularly required to stand, walk and use hands to handle product

    + Communicate effectively in both quiet and loud conditions. (Talk, hear, see…)

    + Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

    + Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

    + Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

    + Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

     

    The Order Picker employee must have dexterity and strength to operate the equipment listed above. Must wear appropriate protective clothing, gloves and headwear. Required to work in varied environments including, extreme hot (more than 100 degrees), extreme cold (less than 20 degrees below zero) and very wet and humid environments for extended periods of time. Noise level is usually moderate.

     

    Must keep work area safe and clean and work in a safe and efficient manner.
