Position Overview:
Henry Ford Health – Jacksonis seeking a full-timeNurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)to join ourGastroenterology teamin a replacement position. This fast-paced, patient-centered department provides comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal and hepatology conditions in both the outpatient and inpatient settings.
The APP will participate in clinic visits and inpatient consults, with typical clinic volumes averaging2–10 patients per day, depending on patient complexity and service needs. Responsibilities include new and follow-up patient visits, inpatient consults and daily rounding, coordination of diagnostic testing and procedures, in-basket management, video visits, admissions, and discharge planning. The APP will collaborate closely with gastroenterologists to manage chronic GI conditions, acute presentations, and post-procedural follow-up. Experience with or interest in procedural-related care (e.g., pre- and post-endoscopy management) is preferred; training is available as needed.Weekend coverage may be required in the future.
Our Gastroenterology team includes13 providers, 45 clinical team members, and 20 clerical staff, supporting care across outpatient clinics, endoscopy services, and inpatient settings. Ideal candidates will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong professional communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a large multidisciplinary team. PriorGastroenterology experience and EPIC proficiencyare preferred, thoughnew graduates are encouraged to apply.
Schedule– Full-Time, 40 hours per week. Rotation of IP and OP days with 3-4 other APPs with shifts of 8-hour, 10-hour, 12-hours. Typically 6 IP days and 10 OP days each month.

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Specialty/Invasive Physician Assistant (PA) will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The Specialty/Invasive PA will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to patients and their families. Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care. Works in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently. Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience. Works in any of the following departments: Cardiovascular Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Interventional Radiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Oncology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Pulmonary Medicine, Surgery, Urgent Care, Urology. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree or Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Requires Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National. Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Current ACLS/BLS as required. Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required.
• NP – Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
• PA – Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
• NP – Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan
• PA – Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Licensure and Certification
• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application)
• National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• DEA/CSL, required through credentialing.
• DEA - NPs do not have controlled substance licenses, only PAs. When NPs apply, they will enter MI license number instead of controlled substance license since they won't have a CSL.
Experience
• GI background, preferred
• Family Medicine background preferred.
• EPIC Experience, preferred.
