POSITION PURPOSE
This position has responsibility for the design, documentation, maintenance and analysis of Corporate Accounting related business policies, practices, procedures, and internal controls related to financial reporting. Responsible for performing the accounting for the highest complexity accounts and transactions including reconciliation and disclosure support.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABIITIES
+ Performs accounting for highest complexity accounts and transactions including interfacing with Accounting Policy and Research personnel to ensure appropriate implementation of accounting conclusions.
+ Analyzes complex accounts and prepares reconciliations and information for inclusion in the financial statements.
+ Assists in development and delivery of TVA-wide training and presentations on business processes and controls associated with financial reporting.
+ Analyzes key business processes, procedures, and systems and recommends strategies for balancing strong internal controls with improved efficiency and effectiveness through process simplification, streamlining, and standardization.
+ Stays abreast of SEC rules and interpretations for compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, professional standards and guidance from authoritative sources such as the SEC, FASB, AICPA; and industry best practices for process design, analysis, and documentation.
+ Coordinates work across the organization to implement technical standards/ reporting requirements and lead projects.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education— A Bachelor’s Degree with study in accounting, a business related field or a related technical discipline. A Master’s Degree in Accounting or a business related field is desirable.
Experience— Preferred five to ten years of experience in process design and improvement, financial analysis, or accounting in the electric utility or related business and/or SEC filing company.
Certification/License, etc— Preferred to have obtained or making progress toward Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”), Certified Internal Auditor, or equivalent. An active CPA license is desirable.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities — Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people, strong oral/written communications, and advanced listening skills for comprehension and interpretation of information. Must be capable of applying process logic, mastering automated tools, organizing efficiently, and multi-tasking. Must have specific knowledge and experience in process design, process management, internal control concepts, business management, teamwork, analytical problem solving, and innovative development and application of solutions to business problems/issues Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
