    Your Responsibilities

    As an **Infrastructure Engineer - SME Computer Hardware** for John Deere Enterprise Information Technology located in Moline, IL, you will:

    + Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for compute hardware standards used in production factories and offices globally.

    + Lead the selection, design, and deployment of compute hardware in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners.

    + Implement and manage hardware solutions that enhance customer experience through secure provisioning, changing customer needs, and hardware management of compute hardware.

    + Design and maintain monitoring, patching, and vulnerability management strategies to ensure hardware health, security, and compliance.

    + Conduct operational reviews and drive continuous improvement in hardware performance and supportability. Along with developing solutions that will promote pro-active solutions to solve user issues related to hardware.

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align compute hardware architecture and supporting tools with business and operational goals.

    + Provide third-line support and act as an escalation point for complex hardware-related issues.

    + Maintain documentation for compute hardware configurations, standards, and operational procedures.

    + Develop and maintain scripts or automation workflows to streamline hardware deployment, configuration, monitoring, and reporting tasks.

    + Collect and analyze data on fleet performance, user reported issues, and telemetry to drive pro-active solutions to minimize the impact on our user community.

    What Skills You Need

    + Proven hands-on experience with compute hardware specs, capabilities, and strategic alignment.

    + Understanding of multiple vendor-specific hardware and APIs in enterprise environments.

    + Experience working with internal and external partners to evaluate, select, and implement compute hardware solutions.

    + Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex hardware and infrastructure issues.

    + Familiarity with patching, monitoring, and maintaining compute hardware applications at scale.

    + Ability to work independently and provide technical guidance to junior team members.

    What Makes You Stand Out

    + Experience with compute hardware lifecycle management, budgeting, and operational analytics.

    + Exposure to scripting or automation tools for hardware configuration and monitoring (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).

    + Understanding of network and IT security principles as they apply to compute hardware and software applications.

    + Experience contributing to enterprise architecture and hardware/software design discussions.

    Education

    Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
