    Description:

    The Medication Access Coordinator is responsible for assisting patients through navigating the complexity of medication access at the most affordable expense as possible. They are the liaison between the provider staff, patient, pharmacy, billing, insurance provider, patient communities, social services and other involved parties to drive excellent customer service on behalf of the pharmacy. Problem-solve fulfillment service and insurance concerns and partner with all involved parties to ensure the patient receives the best possible care experience.

    K** **EY** **J** **OB** **R** **ESPONSIBILITIES:

    _Establishes and_ _maintains_ _effective relationships with referral sources, and exemplifies_ _excellent customer_ _service during interactions with patients, employees_ _, providers_ _._

     

    _Interface and problem solving, if needed, with the referring provider and/or clinic staff;_ _monitors satisfaction_ _of patients, referring providers and clinical sites_ _regarding_ _referral process and patient_ _care_ _management.._

     

    _Act as an insurance specialist by expediting the prescription filling process (entering patient demographics, allergies, insurance information); obtain benefit information, verify patient insurance eligibility and level of coverage; understand Medicare/Medicaid regulations and billing guidelines as they pertain to pharmacy patient benefits; understand billing primary, secondary and tertiary insurance claims, and understanding the 340B program and the impact of prescriptions from specialty clinics._

     

    _Initiate and_ _assist_ _with the Prior Authorization and Patient Prescription Financial Assistance processes within the assigned therapy classes; resolve billing issues and obtain Prior Authorizations for medications when needed._

     

    _Work with Patient Financial Advocates_ _regarding_ _ongoing coverage levels/issues; provide_ _education and_ _training as necessary or instructed._

     

    _Interpret and disseminate information, including key information about changes in the_ _marketplace and_ _physician patterns; develop a plan/timetable to monitor program performance with_ _stakeholders_ _on_ _a regular basis_ _. ._

     

    _Maintain patient education materials, collect data, run_ _statistics_ _and_ _monitor_ _productivity._

     

    _Create and_ _utilize_ _tools to_ _monitor_ _and report outcomes of initiatives; provide information to Pharmacy managers and Market Director of Pharmacy, as_ _appropri_ _ate for_ _review,_ _evaluation_ _and_ _prioritization of opportunities._

     

    _Additional_ _retail pharmacy responsibilities as needed: retrieval of prescriptions from patients; data_ _and prescription_ _entry; prescription filling, general phone/customer service involving refills and_ _resolving insurance_ _issues; working the cash register._

     

    _Other duties as assigned by the market director of pharmacy._

    Required** **Minimum Qualifications** **:

    + High School Diploma or GED

    + Registered or eligible to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the State Board of Pharmacy Examiners within 5 days of hire.

    + Pharmacy Technician Certification Program.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + 2-yeardegree in healthcare or related field

    + Specialty Pharmacy therapiesknowledge.

    + Knowledge of IT applications or abilityto efficientlylearn (e.g.EMR)

    + Knowledge ofgovernment (Medicaid/Medicare) andthird partypayer contacts andprovider agreements.

    + Ability to train others.
