    JOB TITLE: Operations Supervisor

    REPORTS TO: Operation Manager

    EFFECTIVE DATE: 11/10/2025

    SUMMARY: The Operations Supervisor oversees daily warehouse, logistics, and production support functions for Sherwood Lumber. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and accurate movement, storage, and distribution of materials and finished products. The Operations Supervisor leads a team of warehouse associates and production support staff to maintain high service standards, operational excellence, and compliance with company policies and safety regulations.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Assists Operations Manager in production activities.

    + Track metrics such as on-time delivery, order accuracy, and inventory variances; provide regular updates to management.

    + Reviews, corrects, and approves time and attendance records in preparation of payroll processing for operations staff within specialty warehouse.

    + Ensures that members of staff adhere to customers specifications during production to guarantee customer satisfaction.

    + Ensure timely and accurate picking, checking, staging, and loading of orders to customers and job sites.

    + Promote and enforce a culture of safety and adherence to OSHA and company safety standards; maintain a clean and organized facility.

    + Coordinate daily workflow and assign tasks to team members in priority order.

    + Mentors and manages team members, identify lapses, and conduct training on the job to equip staff with knowledge of developing trends in order to build a highly skilled department.

    + Identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity, reduce waste, and enhance customer satisfaction.

    + Ensures that members of the operations team adhere to company rules and work ethics.

    + Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve delivery or product issues quickly and professionally.

    + Handle inquiries emails/phone calls from customers & sales (re shortages, pods, invoices damaged, etc.) - Works with sales, customers, etc.

    + Car/truck inspections of poor inbound material for specialty.

    + Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Supervises production team employees within the operation department.

    + Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Preferred: Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite; ERP System; and Time & Labor Management System.

    + Preferred Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and ERP software.

    + Other skills required:

    + Excellent written and oral communication skills.

    + Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

    + Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

    + Ability to work closely with peers and leadership on team orientated goals.

    + Ability to follow company directives and instruction.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    + Continually required to sit.

    + Frequently required to walk.

    + Occasionally required to stand in addition to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl.

    + Occasionally exposed to the following outside weather conditions: extreme heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid.

    + While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the office work environment is usually quiet to moderate; the noise level outdoors in lumber yard(s) is usually very loud.

    + The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
