ASPIRUS ST. LUKE'S HOSPITAL in Duluth, MN is seeking a STUDENT INTERN-NURSING to join our team!

Salary: $20.25 Hourly

Schedule/Hours: All days of the Week, VARIED (ALL) SHIFTS, 8/ 12 hours

Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend

FTE: PART TIME, 0.600000 FTE

JOB SUMMARY

Under the immediate supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the student intern applies and demonstrates knowledge of the delivery of professional nursing care in accordance with St Luke’s policies and procedures. Assists with selected routine and technical aspects of nursing care to patients of all ages under the direct supervision of an RN. Manages and coordinates information between patient, family and healthcare team members; provides for education of patient's families and evaluates outcomes under the supervision of an RN. Intern will complete forms provided by the Student Nurse Internship Implementation Group (SNII). These forms include: Student Skills Self-Assessment of Skills and Educational Competencies, Goal Sheet, Post Internship Evaluation, Summer Intern Program Evaluation and Agency Evaluation of Preceptor/Mentor. Mandatory attendance for orientation date as scheduled by Education Manager of St. Luke’s.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

+ Education: Currently an active enrolled student and in good standing in an accredited Minnesota school of nursing. Successful completion of first semester junior level assessment course grade point average minimum of 2.75 or greater.

+ Licensure/Certification/Registration: BLS Certification with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or Military Training Network.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of current principles and techniques of nursing practice; knowledge of the practical application of the nursing process and physical assessment. Ability to support St. Luke’s goals and objectives.

+ READING - Advanced: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints.

+ WRITING - Intermediate: Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.

+ SPEAKING - Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

+ MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Intermediate Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or interpret bar graphs to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

+ REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

+ AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES - Skilled at assessment and knowledgeable of growth and development. Provides appropriate care respective to the ages of the patients served per clinical environment.
