Job Title: Accounting Administrator
Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Accounts Payable / Administrative Support professional to join our accounting team. This newly created role is designed to support the finance department following recent restructuring. The ideal candidate will assist with administrative and operational tasks, provide backup support to the AP function, and contribute to process improvement initiatives across departments including Accounting, AP, HR, and Executive Finance.
Responsibilities
+ Provide administrative support to the accounting team, Controller, CFO, and HR.
+ Maintain and update checklists, filing systems, and internal documentation.
+ Assist with accounts payable tasks including invoice processing and vendor coordination.
+ Step in to support AP functions during staff absences or peak periods.
+ Create and implement organizational systems and processes to improve workflow.
+ Perform ad hoc administrative and operational tasks as needed.
+ Ensure timely and accurate tracking of tasks and deliverables.
+ Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support cross-functional needs.
Essential Skills
+ 3-4 years experience in administrative support and accounts payable functions.
+ Proficiency in Yardi accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
+ Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
+ Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in property management or real estate industry preferred.
+ Ability to build and maintain systems and processes for tracking and documentation.
Work Environment
Fast-paced, collaborative office setting within a leading real estate development firm. This is an on-site role at the headquarters in Bethesda, MD. You will be part of a small, close-knit accounting and finance team with cross-functional collaboration. The position involves direct interaction with the Controller, CFO, AP Specialist, HR, and other internal stakeholders. The culture is professional yet flexible, with a focus on high-quality work and team support. Standard business hours with a flexible start time (between 7:30 AM – 9:30 AM).
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bethesda, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
