    Responsibilities:

    GENERAL PURPOSE

    To enhance the quality, timeliness and depth of AHP’s reporting capabilities to enable AHP leadership and key external stakeholders to obtain continuous actionable information about our performance to enable us to achieve operational, functional and business targets. AHP has rated this position as high impact on bottom line, filling an operational gap and creating capabilities required for future success The Senior Financial Analyst will be a key member of AHP’s contracting and information management functions by providing ongoing deep analysis of AHP’s financial performance in its value-based contracts, identifying opportunities to improve performance, and informing AHP’s contract negotiations by assessing the likely financial impact of proposals. The person in this position will apply their deep knowledge of complex contracts and finances and exercise independent judgement and discretion to deeply review all the financial reporting provided to and produced by AHP and summarize the data. They will provide skilled interpretation, clear explanation, and thoughtful advice to AHP leadership on key findings and opportunities. This position will also be able to use AHP’s information management systems to provide answers to key questions about our cost and utilization performance.

     

    This position will report to the Director of Information Management with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Chief Financial Officer.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    + Utilize highly advanced knowledge of data interpretation and analysis, report development, financial acumen and experience with federal programs and healthcare reimbursement methodologies to monitor analyze, interpret and summarize total-cost-of-care financial results across the organization’s portfolio of value-based contracts/programs.

    + Develop cost and utilization summary reports of performance, trends, and areas of opportunity.

    + Produce ad hoc analytics to support all areas of organization.

    + Meet with operational, clinical, and financial executive team on a regular basis to present analysis findings and identify high-value opportunities .

    + Evaluate potential new programs and initiatives for financial viability and associated risks to support strategic decisions.

    + Build annual medical expense budgets and quarterly forecasts for major risk-based arrangements.

    + Work closely with contracting team during negotiations with payors to assess financial impact of proposed changes.

    + Develop reports showing performance information for AHP’s external clients and other key stakeholders.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    + Bachelor's degree in finance functional area and 5 years relevant experience in a health care and/or University setting required

    + Or equivalent combination of education and experience

    + Preferred - Five years experience with health care data, including claims, fee schedules, Electronic Medical Record data (particularly EPIC), fee schedules, and quality measure variables.

    Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities:

    + Strong analytical skills and ability to present findings of analyses in an understandable and actionable format.

    + Experience in analyzing government programs such as with CMS, CMMI, and others.

    + Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (including Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word) as well as SQL and report-writing and data visualization software (such as Tableau).

    + Experience in financial modeling.

    + Knowledge of key operating structures of integrated delivery systems and value-based payments, such as care management, risk contracting, and alternative payment methodologies.

    + Strong verbal and written communications skills.
