Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Structural Engineer to take control of their career potential in our Detroit office. This position will partner with a multi-discipline team to develop designs of electrical substations to support the safe and reliable delivery of electricity across the United States and Canada. Opportunities may include, but not limited to:
+ Thinking creatively to address the complex challenges faced by the largest utilities in North America.
+ Performing rigid bus analysis and the design of electrical substation steel structures, equipment foundations, structure foundations and secondary oil containment.
+ Providing support for our clients during construction.
+ Performing field inspections and compliance documentation.
+ Leading a team of single- or multi-discipline professionals to ensure project success.
+ Presenting designs and proposals to clients, permitting authorities, public interest groups, etc.
+ Corresponding and/or meeting with clients, contractors, and vendors.
+ Participating in project proposal efforts.
+ Advancing into leadership roles.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program. and 3 years of structural engineering experience required or
+ Bachelor's degree Bachelor of Science in Structural or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. and 3 years of structural engineering experience required
+ Master Degree of Science degree in Structural Engineering and 2 years of structural engineering experience required
+ Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
+ Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
+ Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
+ Strong computer skills include structural analysis programs (e.g., RISA 3D), AutoCAD, ETABS, SAFE and BIM (e.g., Revit and Tekla).
+ Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
+ Engineers in Training-EIT Certification Preferred
Compensation
$100,000.00-140,000.00
This job posting will remain open a minimum of 72 hours and on an ongoing basis until filled.
