HSE Specialist II – Indianola, PA
PURPOSE
This Mid-level level HSE position is in support of HSE staff and site leadership teams, with increased autonomy and complexity.
Maintaining the health, safety and environmental performance of PS facility, personnel, contractors, and visitors by maintaining compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations as mandated by Federal, State and local agencies. Implement programs and initiatives that will help Bayer achieve established safety and health goals and objectives and support all programs of the HSE department as required.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Ensure policies, procedures, equipment, and training are available and in place to ensure compliance with all OSHA and EPA regulations as well as corporate reporting requirements and industry best practices. Maintain site HSE procedures and the HSE Intranet web page;
+ Participate as a member of the site leadership team to ensure that HSE related issues are properly identified, communicated, and managed;
+ Establish and maintain accident prevention programs; lead incident investigations when incidents do occur, and drive corrective and preventive actions to reduce reoccurrences;
+ Develop and deliver various employee and contractor HSE related training;
+ Perform and document Job Hazard Analysis, Equipment safety reviews, and other similar processes to identify and mitigate risks. Develop administrative and engineering controls to maintain regulatory compliance and minimize HSE risk;
+ Lead cross functional safety committees, ergonomics teams, and/or project specific groups assigned to drive changes;
+ Collect, analyze, and submit data necessary to support the Intelex extra-financial reporting systems, as well as support the communication of HSE related performance within the site and PS organizations;
+ Oversee or take part in various inspection activities related to facilities, machinery and safety equipment on a scheduled basis to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Report and follow-up on actions identified to mitigate risks and maintain compliance;
+ Perform and/or assist with creation and coordination of site emergency response and site evacuation programs.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ BS in Environmental or Safety Sciences, Biology, Chemistry or similar related field;
+ Relevant work experience in Safety or Environmental field and OSHA/EPA/FDA regulated areas/environments;
+ Strong presentation, training, and interpersonal skills;
+ Ability to influence other members of the organization to help achieve goals and increase performance;
+ Ability to build relationships and partnerships within the organization;
+ Ability to work on projects of medium to high complexity with minimal direction;
+ Ability to coach and mentor other members of the HSE organization;
+ Demonstrated problem solving abilities;
+ Strong attention to detail;
+ Experience with Microsoft Office tools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Advanced degree or professional certifications like a CSP;
+ More than 5 years of relevant work experience in Safety or Environmental field and OSHA/EPA/FDA regulated areas/environments.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $84,000.00 to $126,000.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..
This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
