    IS React Developer (2025-192)

    SUMMARY

    The React Developer is crucial in building the next generation of our user-facing applications, focusing on creating high-performance, responsive, and, critically, WCAG- compliant interfaces. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment and possesses deep expertise across the entire front-end stack: React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    This position offers a hybrid work arrangement; candidates must reside at a U.S. location within 125 miles of the AAA's headquarters in Downtown Manhattan.

    COMPENSATION

    New York, NY: $117,000 - $123,000

     

    This position is also eligible for an annual performance-based incentive.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    + Develop Accessible Features: Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code to implement new user-facing features and components primarily using React.js (including modern Hooks) and its ecosystem.

    + Full Front-End Ownership: Utilize expert-level skills in HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript (ES6+) to translate UI/UX designs and wireframes into high-quality, pixel-perfect, and fully responsive code.

    + State Management & Logic: Implement efficient global and local state management solutions (e.g., Redux, Recoil, or React Context) and architect reusable, modular component libraries.

    + Performance & Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks, ensuring fast load times and a smooth user experience across all devices and modern browsers.

    + Collaboration & Review: Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain code quality, standards, and accessibility compliance.

    + API Integration: Integrate front-end components with back-end services using RESTful APIs or GraphQL.

    + Accessibility Champion: Act as a key resource for the team to ensure all development meets or exceeds WCAG 2.1 AA standards. This includes implementing proper WAI-ARIA attributes, semantic HTML5, keyboard navigation, and robust screen reader support.

    + Testing: Implement unit and integration tests using frameworks like Jest or React Testing Library to ensure high code coverage and application reliability.

    + Attend on-site meetings and trainings.

    + Demonstrate regular, reliable and predictable job attendance.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. 3-5 years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on Front End technologies; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

    + Strong knowledge of React. Familiarity with frontend development technology stack.

    + Ability to approach complex problems logically, identify discrepancies, and develop efficient solutions.

    + Clear and effective verbal and written communication. Ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

    + Thoroughness in code writing, testing, and documentation. Commitment to producing high­ quality, well-structured code.

    + Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing project requirements. Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and apply them effectively.
