POSITION DETAILS
The CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies (SLU) is the 25th and newest unit of the City University of New York. The school is dedicated to public service and social justice. It offers
undergraduate and graduate certificate and degree programs in labor relations, public policy, public administration, health care administration, community studies, community leaders, labor studies, and urban studies. These programs are designed to meet the needs of working adults as well as traditional-age college students who seek to learn more about the challenges confronting poor and working-class populations in the workplace and the community. Its faculty includes distinguished scholars in the social sciences and expert practitioners in government, labor, and public service.
Reporting to the Student Financials Director, the Student Financials Coordinator is primarily responsible for assisting students in meeting college financial obligations and resolving student
account issues. The Student Financials Coordinator will:
• Provides administrative support and front-line assistance to students regarding billing,
payments, and general account-related inquiries, escalating complex issues as needed.
• Offers basic guidance to students on available payment options, referring them to
appropriate staff for detailed inquiries.
• Coordinates and processes student refunds in compliance with university policy and
procedures.
• Assists with cashiering functions, including accepting payments, issuing receipts, and
supporting daily reconciliation processes under supervision.
• Prepares and submit student refund requests related to overpayments or course changes,
following established procedures and under direction.
• Assists with processing waivers, charges, and payments tied to institutional and externally
funded tuition programs.
• Aids with billing and tracking of third-party contracts and union tuition benefits, including
data entry and record maintenance.

• Supports collection and outreach efforts to address past-due balances and assist in
improving revenue collection outcomes.
• Responds to 1098-T tax inquiries and flag discrepancies for review by senior staff.
• Coordinates with the accounting office on the receipt and processing of ACH, wire transfers,
and external tuition payments.
• Provides clerical and data entry support for scholarship processing, including system
updates, basic troubleshooting, and student communications.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in Higher Education preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills required.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment is essential.
• Evening and weekend hours may be required.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Provides operational support for a College student accounts function.
- Performs processing, collection, reconciliation and maintenance of student receivables
- Counsels students in meeting college financial obligations including current tuition, prior receivables and methods of payment; responds to student account inquiries
- Maintains revenue files; prepares reports as required
- Assists in the review of student accounts; identifies and reports delinquent accounts
- May assist in the evaluation and verification of student eligibility for various loans and grants
- Provides support to ensure the smooth flow of business operations and completion of required administrative tasks within the office; may supervise clerical and/or part-time staff
- Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary range is $72,236 – $82,297 commensurate with education and experience.
