Job Summary and Qualifications

This position exists for the collection of blood from all patients utilizing venipuncture and capillary equipment such as vacutainers, lancets, syringes, microtainers, and other blood collection devices. When necessary, performs glucose testing using glucometer after orientation and demonstration of competency **.**

What you will do in this role:

+ Collects blood from all patients (infant, child, adult, geriatric) by venipuncture and fingerstick/heel stick.

+ Performs glucose testing using glucometer after orientation and demonstration of competency.

+ Utilizes lab computer system to compile collection labels, accession specimens, lab order entry and to enter glucose results.

+ Performs charting of patient test results and delivery of results to physicians’ boxes.

+ Assists in inquiry functions for physicians and their offices, nursing, and various other requesting areas.

+ Maintains clean drawing areas, keeps drawing area and trays stocked and in clean condition.

+ Assists in collection of quality assurance data.

+ Able to relate and correlate specimen collection, testing, and results for all cultural and age groups, newborn to

+ geriatric.

+ Communicate with patients using Mainland customer service key words and phrases. Specifically communicates to EVERY patient that lab wants him or her to be VERY SATISFIED with laboratory and hospital services.
