**About the Role** :
We are looking for a Fund Controller for CBRE Investment Accounting & Reporting Solutions (“CBRE IA&R”), you will work in an ambitious and growing environment. In this role, you will be assisting the Senior Controller in coordinating the (fund) reporting by keeping track of deadlines and deliverables, communicating with different internal and external stakeholders, and preparing and reviewing fund reporting (templates).
What You’ll Do:
• Provides formal supervision to employees and monitors the training and development of staff. Conducts performance evaluations and coaching. Oversee the recruiting and hiring of new employees.
• Monitors, compiles, and analyzes financial data. Performs detailed review of monthly property level reports and may provide a forward-looking view to senior team members.
• Assists with reviewing periodic P&L calculations at the fund and investor levels
• Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities. Establish work schedules, assign tasks, and cross-train staff. Set and track staff and department deadlines. Mentor and coach as needed.
• Operates the daily activities of the treasury, cash management, and accounting function of the fund. Approve check and wire requests up to approved dollar amounts.
• Reviews and signs-off on fund level bank account reconciliations. Ensures all fund transactions are properly posted to an accounting system.
• Prepares and reconciles trial balances for assigned funds. In the US, prepares investment and positions reconciliations and daily reconciliation of cash balances. Performs periodic asset payment, cash, and corporate action reconciliations. Prepare templates for fund reporting.
• Prepares, analyses, and reviews periodic NAV calculations.
• Updates and monitors daily trading, general ledger activity, and pricing of funds to ensure accuracy of daily NAV calculation, if applicable.
• Executes on processes and procedures, and constantly provides feedback on process improvement.
• Performs administrative tasks as required.
• Participates and assists with automation efforts, in systems testing and implementation-related tasks.
• Troubleshoots escalated issues and ensures internal and external customer requests are handled timely, accurately and with a focus on customer service.
• Feeds data for client presentations on financials.
• Prepare, review, and approve journal entries prepared by the team
• May participate in special projects including new fund set-up and fund closures.
• Calculations of complex fee and joint venture structures, performance return (GIPS, NCREIF) calculations, etc.
• Prepares and supports preparation of fund financial statements, investor capital call/distribution notices. Supports preparation of IRR and performance reporting models.
• Act as a primary contact with the organization’s internal and external auditors on accounting matters.
• Ensure that systems follow acceptable accounting practices and applicable regulations.
• Apply deep knowledge of multiple disciplines, broad industry knowledge, and commercial awareness. Drive financial and functional performance within disciplines and across business.
• Coach others and share in-depth knowledge of own job discipline and broad knowledge of several job disciplines within the function.
• Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values.
• Direct the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems by applying advanced critical thinking.
What You’ll Need:
• Bachelor's Degree preferred with 7 - 10 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
• Prior experience in fund level accounting preferred with real estate accounting or fund accounting software systems.
• Requires intermediate knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations including intermediate knowledge of financial terms and principles to include accounting methods (cash, accrual, and full GAAP).
• Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts intermediate financial analysis.
• Solid technical financial skills and knowledge of GAAP, FASB, REIS, IFRS, and in-region/in-country standards where applicable
• Confident understanding of real estate terms, definitions, and real estate analytical methodology.
• Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention is preferred.
• Ability to exchange sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations and handle problems.
• Leadership skills to motivate the team to achieve broad operational targets with impacts on own job discipline, multiple job disciplines, and department.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
• Expert organizational skills with an unrivaled inquisitive mindset.
