Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic** **Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for setting up repairs, rebuilding, and installing production equipment to ensure continuous production of all products. This role involves repairing malfunctioning production equipment, including fillers, conveyors, drives, coolers, palletizing, and boxing components. The mechanic is tasked with installing new equipment or replacing equipment as required and setting up lines for product changeovers. As the primary technical leader on the shift, the mechanic will oversee planned maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and work to reduce downtime due to equipment failure. Additionally, the role includes assisting with training operators to recognize and report potential equipment malfunctions and failures, as well as ensuring knowledge and assisting with preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

+ Set up repairs, rebuild, and install production equipment.

+ Repair malfunctioning production equipment such as fillers, conveyors, drives, and coolers.

+ Install new equipment or replace equipment as required.

+ Set up line for product changeovers.

+ Lead planned maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues.

+ Reduce downtime due to equipment failure.

+ Assist with operator training to recognize and report potential equipment malfunctions.

+ Analyze mechanical and operational problems and initiate corrective action plans.

+ Make necessary corrective repairs and running adjustments to maintain production, safety, and quality.

Essential Skills

+ Troubleshooting and preventive maintenance skills.

+ Ability to repair electrical and mechanical equipment.

+ PLC troubleshooting.

+ Ability to troubleshoot and repair liquid packaging machinery.

+ Electrical skills for troubleshooting 480v electric, 3-phase motors, and PLCs.

+ Experience in pneumatics, hydraulics, and welding.

+ 2+ years of experience as a line mechanic in a high-speed production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in food manufacturing/bottling preferred.

+ Ability to use machine shop equipment, hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.

+ Ability to read mechanical diagrams.

+ Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic controls and components.

+ Experience in pipe fitting, welding, and machining.

+ Previous experience with TPM or Lean Manufacturing is a plus.

+ Working knowledge of computers required.

Work Environment

Work in a GMP food and beverage company on a B & D - 6:30pm - 7am 2-2-3 schedule. The environment requires no jewelry, makeup, or long nails on the floor and maintains a pretty casual attire.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dayton, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00/hr.
