    The Global Engineering Services - Sustainability and Automation (GESA) Team is seeking a dynamic development Technical Program Manager for Amazon's growing fleet of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) and related technologies for the world-wide Fulfillment Center network.

    This candidate will be supporting and leading projects for the Customer Fulfillment Organization and should be willing to dive in head-first, and help a high-performing team manage complex dependencies, project timelines, and technical specifications.

     

    The GESA team supports the World-Wide Services Engineering organization in deployment of advanced technology on Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) and AGV's. This position requires the ability to innovate, and implement process improvement projects to improve safety and efficiency of our fulfillment centers.

     

    Successful candidates will be natural self-starters who have Program Management experience and understand fulfillment center operations. This role will support the deployment of multiple Autonomous Ground Vehicle (AGV) technology programs, and their integration with various Amazon infrastructure. Candidates must be able to work with high technical detail, as well as communicate high-level strategic direction to non-technical stakeholders.

     

    This role requires up to 50% travel and availability to work from a corporate office when not traveling. Candidates should either live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Relocation assistance may be provided.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Technical Standards Management: Understand, educate, and enforce technical standards and specifications for AGV systems with internal and external development partners

    • Implementation Planning: Manage AGV implementation plans and partner with FC resources and robotics vendors to deploy autonomous vehicle technologies in Amazon Fulfillment centers

    • Stakeholder Advocacy: Act as advocate for AGV development programs with internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with operational requirements

    • Process Improvement: Evaluate current AGV testing procedures, qualification protocols, and tools to identify areas for streamlining and improving deployment efficiency

    • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as subject matter expert for AGV development technologies within Amazon, educating our vendor base on autonomous navigation guidelines and ensuring compliance with safety standards

    • Strategic Planning: Define forward-looking strategy for long-term AGV development programs, including technology roadmaps and integration planning

    • Cross-functional Coordination: Coordinate and engage with cross-functional teams (Robotics, Operations, Safety, etc.) across the network to successfully implement AGV projects

    • Project Management: Conduct standing meetings/calls with internal stakeholders to discuss change requests and provide status updates

    • Standard Work Development: Develop and roll-out standard work

    • Risk Management: Identify and manage project risks

    • Travel Requirements: Approximately 50% travel requirement (this is not a virtual/remote by design role)

    A day in the life

    A typical day for this TPM role involves:

    Morning:

    - Lead cross-functional team meetings to review automation project status and milestones

     

    - Analyze operational data and requirements from fulfillment centers to identify automation opportunities

     

    - Collaborate with vendor partners to refine technical solutions and implementation strategies

    Afternoon:

    - Conduct site walks with local operations teams to understand workflow challenges and validate proposed solutions

     

    - Partner with Safety and Learning teams to develop standard operating procedures for new automation systems

     

    - Review technical documentation and compliance requirements with TUV-R representatives

    Throughout the day:

    - Coordinate with IT teams to ensure system integration requirements are met

     

    - Drive resolution of technical issues through stakeholder alignment and clear communication

     

    - Develop and maintain project timelines and deliverables

     

    - Evaluate vendor proposals and solutions for scalability across the network

     

    - Document best practices and lessons learned for knowledge sharing

     

    - Provide regular updates to leadership on project status and risk mitigation

    Basic Qualifications

    - 4+ years of technical product or program management experience

     

    - 3+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

     

    - Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

     

    - Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent

     

    - 3+ years of analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentations experience

     

    - Strong technical project management skills, excellent stakeholder management, and the ability to drive multiple concurrent initiatives while maintaining focus on safety and operational excellence.

    Preferred Qualifications

    - 3+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $197,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
