We are seeking a motivated early-career professional to join our Ports & Maritime (P&M) team in the US Northwest region. This role will support sustainability and climate-related initiatives within the P&M group and related transportation markets.

Ports are under increasing pressure to reduce their environmental impacts whilst strengthening resilience and adaptation to future operating conditions. Striking this balance demands informed decision-making—grounded in a clear understanding of regional and national regulations, the opportunities presented by emerging technologies and scientific advancements, and complemented by insight into port operations and business realities.

As part of our Adaptation and Efficiency division you will gain unique insight into how ports must evolve to meet mitigation and adaptation goals. You will provide technical support for projects focused on greenhouse gas (GHG) and air emissions inventories, environmental management, climate adaptation planning, decarbonization roadmaps, and other sustainability strategies. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of ports and maritime operations while gaining hands-on experience in climate and environmental solutions.

    What You’ll Do

    * Assist with GHG and air emissions accounting and reporting for ports and maritime projects.

    * Support development of climate adaptation and resilience measures for critical infrastructure and operations.

    * Contribute to environmental assessments, Net Zero and Zero Emission strategies, and decarbonization roadmaps

    * Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver technical solutions on time and within scope.

    * Research emerging technologies for emissions tracking and reduction.

    * Participate in internal initiatives to advance Jacobs’ sustainability and climate offerings in the Ports & Maritime sector and other transport markets.

    * Apply innovation and forward-thinking approaches to problem solving

    * Analyze quantitative data sets to inform decision-making

    * In addition to technical support, the key person will gain exposure to broader P&M activities such as project delivery, client engagement, and business development.

    Primary Job Responsibilities:

    * Support multi-disciplinary projects and deliver subtasks within scope and schedule.

    * Develop GHG and air emissions inventories and related client deliverables (reports, tools).

    * Contribute to proposals and technical inputs for sustainability-focused bids.

    * Assist with innovative approaches, including in-house tool development and framework implementation.

    * Support external engagement through conferences, presentations, and thought leadership.

    * Collaborate across Jacobs to deliver integrated solutions.

    * Deliver adherence to business and quality management systems.

    * Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability or related field

    * Minimum 2 years experience in working environment

    * Interest in port and terminal trends, including electrification, decarbonization, and resiliency.

    * Strong analytical, organizational, and research skills; ability to manage multiple tasks.

    * Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.

    * Collaborative mindset and ability to work in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environments.

    * Willingness to travel within the U.S. and internationally.

    Ideally, you'll also have:

    * Experience with Life Cycle Assessments (ISO standards) and environmental market solutions (carbon credits, emissions trading schemes).

    * Familiarity with GHG accounting tools and environmental regulations; experience with emissions inventories.
