Job Title: Senior System Administrator
Job Description
The role requires visiting worksites to set up and manage networked IT infrastructure, including hardware, system software, and applications. The position is vital for ensuring secure data storage, resolving technical issues, and enhancing network systems.
Responsibilities
+ Configure and maintain the networked IT infrastructure, including hardware, system software, and applications.
+ Ensure data is stored securely and backed up regularly with periodic testing.
+ Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking, and system issues.
+ Replace and upgrade defective or outdated components as necessary.
+ Monitor system performance to ensure smooth and secure operations.
+ Research and recommend new approaches to improve networked computer systems.
+ Provide technical support upon request.
+ Document processes for employees to successfully work within the computing system.
+ Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
+ Troubleshoot hardware and software errors, document problems and resolutions, prioritize problems, and assess the impact of issues.
+ Provide documentation and technical specifications for planning and implementing new or upgraded IT infrastructure.
+ Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
+ Support security and helpdesk teams to resolve desktop application, workstation, and related equipment issues at the Tier 3 level.
+ Manage capacity, storage planning, and database performance.
Essential Skills
+ 5 to 10 years of experience systems administrator
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
+ Meraki Networking and M365 knowledge.
+ Customer service-friendly personality.
+ Experience administering server-side technology and networked computing systems.
+ Familiarity with SQL and database operations.
+ Ability to prioritize workloads with critical deadlines.
+ Availability outside of working hours for emergency issues.
+ Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Relevant degree or diploma in Information Systems or Information Technology.
+ Associate degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
+ System administration and IT certifications in Cisco, Microsoft, or other network-related fields.
+ 5+ years of working knowledge of Virtualization/Cloud, VMware, ESXi, vSphere, vCenter.
+ Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.
+ Experience with scripting and automation tools.
+ Proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans.
+ Expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols.
+ Experience implementing and deploying STIG-compliant Virtual Machines.
Work Environment
The role involves working with a variety of systems including Windows 11, iOS, Windows Server 2016-2025, and Microsoft Azure Cloud. Technologies used include Cisco and Meraki Networking, DNS/DHCP Configuration, Active Directory, and VMware vSphere. The position requires flexibility to handle emergency issues outside of regular working hours and involves both on-site and remote work, supporting a dynamic and technically challenging environment.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dulles, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.07 - $64.90/hr.
