PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Data Scientist will build high performing machine learning models across the enterprise. As a key member of the rapidly growing Enterprise Analytics team, this role has the opportunity to develop and deploy impactful generative AI / LLM / ML solutions that drive revenue growth, reduce expenses, and enhance customer experience. This role will perform analyses of internal and external data sources in support of key business functions and develop predictive, descriptive modeling and identify areas of improvement for ICW business units. The Data Scientist will collaborate closely with business partners in Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Actuarial, HR, Law and Technology to help us realize the value in our extensive data resources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Build and deploy high performing AI/ML solutions.
+ Utilize LLM models to improve organization efficiency, and tune models as needed.
+ Perform prompt engineering.
+ Develop innovative AI and ML solutions and implement scalable feature engineering.
+ Create POC, MVP, as well as full-featured applications
+ Research and recommend emerging AI and ML approaches and present research results to stakeholders.
+ Partner effectively with data engineering and MLOps teams to ensure internal and external data pipelines support sophisticated data models and proper monitoring and alerting is in place.
+ Collaborate with machine learning engineers as they harden models and move them from the lab into production.
+ Identify and measure levers that impact essential metrics; communicate steps to business stakeholders.
+ Keep up to date with latest research in the field and contribute to maintaining and growing an active data science community at ICW Group.
Drive insights and improve workflows and business processes throughout the organization.
+ Specify and develop advanced AI techniques to discover patterns, insights, and trends in ICW data.
+ Drive and strategize with other scientists and internal business units to ensure effective execution of data-driven initiatives.
+ Work closely with IT Security and Data Governance to ensure that analytics practices meet data security, privacy, and quality policies.
+ Collect, aggregate, and analyze data from multiple internal and external sources for use in the most advanced analytics.
+ Contribute to development of AI and ML internal policies and help ensure Enterprise Analytics team is compliant with applicable regulations.
+ Write code to help build and maintain data pipelines for production models.
+ Develop the highest quality, replicable predictive and descriptive analytics for business use.
+ Actively evaluate (tracks and validates) existing models to ensure optimal data-driven decisions and make changes as needed.
+ Develop a strong understanding of the business issues and data challenges of the organization in order to drive meaningful insights.
+ Communicate findings and insight to stakeholders and provide business strategy recommendations for optimizing business performance.
+ Analyze current business processes; make recommendations to management for new, more efficient, workflows, and processes.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
+ Bachelor's degree required with a major in Statistics, Cognitive Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Psychology, Neuroscience or related field and a minimum of 4 years of industry experience in data science roles; OR Master’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of industry experience in data science roles; OR PhD in a related field with research involving AI/ML.
+ Ph.D. preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
+ Strong interest in and familiarity with LLMs / generative AI.
+ Experience with LLM tuning and distillation.
+ Knowledge and experience with statistical and machine learning algorithms, forecasting, recommender systems, reinforcement learning, deep learning, and optimization.
+ Cloud computing experience using several AWS tools and services.
+ Strong knowledge and experience with Python and SQL.
+ Containers and agile methodology.
+ Experience with PyTorch and MLflow.
+ Knowledge of databases and database methodology, especially Snowflake.
+ Experience with model deployment.
+ Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Casual Inference, Anomaly Detection and/or modern Natural Language Processing techniques.

Office environment – no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands and employees are regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in an office environment and requires the frequent use of a computer, telephone, copier, and other standard office equipment.

The current range for this position is
$121,624.81 - $217,710.99
This range is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors unique to each candidate, including experience, education and the location of the role and considers employees performing substantially similar work.
