    Overview

Join Surface’s technology development team as the ME lead for early concepts, owning rapid prototyping and validation of new mechanisms, materials, and system approaches. You’ll coordinate multiple workstreams and produce the specs, test plans, and evidence packages that move ideas from “could we?” to “we can.” Your work lays the building blocks our future products depend on.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

    Responsibilities

You’ll also apply expertise in predictive modeling to moderately complex products and review documentation to ensure appropriate test requirements.

+ You will carry out testing on complex feature areas or products and create external testing and partner engagement plans. You’ll identify highly complex design flaws using root-cause data analysis and validate features by building advanced prototypes.

+ You’ll create a project schedule, monitor performance, and help identify resources for the hardware engineering aspects of a complex feature or product. You’ll also help develop products by guiding the team’s review of partner products and evaluating various details of materials and techniques used in production.

+ You will identify the most significant project risks, communicate team progress internally and externally, and create customized reports for products and features. You’ll also document complex details about materials components, and functionality.
